Does it bother anyone that it is in the 50's, 60's, and 70's in the United States in December? It rained today in the middle of december..that kind of bothered me...

Well, yes!

Christina and I were planning on skiing while we were in NH for the kickoff, and we can't do that without any snow!!!

I LOVE the snow!!! and we have NONE!....its barely even snowed at all (just a couple times for an hour if that, nothing stuck)

But i heard on the news that last year here in central indiana we had about 5.5 in of snow already.....and the latest it's ever been before we've gotten any snow was the 21st of december...

So me is still hoping for a white christmas

:) :(

Here in Delaware (yes!! you know you love it!), we have much the same situation. Its been warm! Today it was miserable - drizzled and misted with a foreboding fog hanging around. Bah! I want snow! One good thing I heard though...On the news, the weather reporter said that in looking at previous years, when it is relatively warm in December, the snow in January and the following months is much greater than the average!! Its just crazy predictions from almanacs, but hey- it'd be cool!

That happens in RI too. And no, I won't be wearing shorts in the snow.

It has only "snowed" one day here since I started living here (about 10 years ago), and even then it didnt stick.

On December 6th the temp reached 74 degrees..... On December 8th we had 4" of snow... does anyone else think this is screwed up???

The reason the weather here is so screwed up is because our dear USA is caught in the wonderful thing known as the jet stream. this is why England and parts of Alaska tend to have mild winters despite being further north than the continental US

Hrm... All this talk of snow and I went swimming in my backyard today :D. Non heated pool, just a regular in ground pool. This is my first winter in Florida so we'll see if I'm in the pool on Christmas Morning. WOO! Wouldn't that be great! I must admit that buying a christmas tree wearing shorts and a tank top is kinda weird. I'm used to bunding up in tons of layers and picking a tree from a farm.

I got to see snow when I was up in Rochester. It was the first snow fall I saw this season, and I have to admit, even though I'm not too keen on the cold, I love snow. And seeing it makes me wish we had some around here. I want a white Christmas!

I was so loving that 70+ degree day Tom ;)

Ok, ok... so I'm a southern born chick that really doesn't belong up north  I love being warm, and I absoultly HATE the snow... hate driving in it, hate walking in it, I'm horrible at all winter sports, so I can't even enjoy it that way  I like it to snow Christmas Eve, and then be melted by the 26th - and have the temps go back into the 60s and 70s ;)

Yeah.... I'm moving south ASAP :D

yeah!! I'm waiting for the big rainstorms and flashes of lighting and rolling thunder...
Well, I take that back, we don't really have lightning storms in CA, but wouldn't it be cool?
We don't get *any* snow here in the "Bay Area", but we sure do up in the mountains. There's been some snow the past couple of weeks, but I haven't been skiing yet :(

I *hate* thunderstorms. They scare me soooo much. ::shudders::

I have to admit too...I like the 70 degree weather, but it's December, so it's just not right. I don't know. I like snow, well, to look at and play in. I don't like driving in it. But, I don't like the cold. That may be a conflict. :)

Don't forget about snowforts. Oh, and Lora, you might want to get a bit used to the snow. The past 2 years, we've had a major storm toward the end of build season. :)

I love thunderstorms. Well, its better when I'm inside watching them, but its still cool being outside camping or something. I suppose some of that stems from my love of bass (not the fish). Thunder - kinda like nature's ultimate subwoofer :)

I was camping in acadia national park when bob was coming up the coast. We didnt have a clue it was coming. The morning before it hit we were going to a camp store to get some coffee, and the lady said it was "free hurricane coffee"... we inquired why, and she told us about the hurricane that was already battering southern new england and would strike where we were within a few hours.... we packed up quickly, and drove across northern new england to New York... to avoid the storm... good thing we got off the island, they closed down the bridge a few hours after we left... ahh good times :)

Tornado's suck too!!!

I was camping on the eastern part of CT in 89 when a tornado came through CT. All we got at the campground was rain but when I got home my house was pretty much unliveable structurally and there were trees all over my yard.
My trees. :(
My house. :(
My Sanity! :(

Also when huricane Gloria came around in the mid 80's It tore down my tree fort that I had just finished the day before with my Dad.

I remember living on the beach in Virginia during hurricane Hugo. That was fun times. I got yelled at so much for being too close to the windows. I finally just went outside, I figured if they were gonna yell at me why npot hve fun first. <responsible mode> I do not recomend anyone do that it was a bad idea, really stupid. </responsible mode>.

I remember having a huge snowstorm this time last year. Our school was let out early and then canceled for the next three days. We must have had a foot of snow (it was probably only 6-8 inches, but a foot sounds better).

Today we got a snow/sleet mixture and we are getting ice tonight in southern NH. I am happy for all of you who do like snow, but personally, i hate it.

As I write this I just came in from outside wearing short sleeves and jeans and yes, it is December 17th. I made my mom take my picture last wednesday and put the date on it just because i was wearing shorts on the day before my b-day... unheard of here in the great state of Indiana. But hey, I'm not really complaining... it just needs to be 75 and sunny or -30 and snowy. None of this in between stuff!

Hey,

Here i michigan, this is normal. We expect 70 degree weather one day and on the next day 1 foot of snow. For "Michanganders", this is very, very normal weather and you are all experencing it. Ya, now you all know what it feels like to live in Michgian...

(But I wish I was in Floridia!!! :p )

It's finally starting to get colder around here. It's about time. It just doesn't feel like Christmas is about a week away. It's really throwing off my idea of what time of year it is and how close to the holidays is. I can't quite believe that I'm going skiing (if the weather permits) in about 2 weeks, it just doesn't seem to make sense. But, it's getting colder. Yay! And this is coming from someone who isn't too fond of the cold.

While I'm sure they're fun to chase and such (what with the flying cows and all ;) )I'm pretty sure Elgin was alluding to the whole destruction aspect of tornadoes. They don't leave a pretty trail behind them...

You forget that Rhode Island is south of where I am Eddie dear ;) What you get, typically speaking, we get worse. Aaaand.. when I was a freshman in '98, I recall a horrible storm at the end of build where my town forgot to plow the 6" of snow off the sidewalks - and I still walked to my FIRST meetings each and every day ;)

I hate snow and the cold with a passion, but you can be assured it won't stop me!

True, but we are right in the middle of what's called "The Alley". That's where noreaster power is the greatest because that's where the high pressure bringing in the cold Maine & Canada air combines with the low pressure bringing in the humidity from the Atlantic, sometimes right off RI's coast. So if a noreaster comes, it's worse here than in Mass.

Oh, I didn't wear shorts today!

Thank you for that pshychanalization Dr. Freud. But seriously you are correct. It changed my life when that happened and not necessarilly for the better. I even stayed back that year in school from the stress of it all. Kind of sucked and again I reiterate.......

TORNADO'S SUCK!!!! literally!!

There's technically snow on the ground here now, but I'm not going to call it a white christmas because the majority of the ground is still green...you can just see spots of white that fell last night...
