View Full Version : Rightsight Optical Sensor Help
Hello all- we using an optical sensor called a rightsight made by Allen-Bradley on our robot this year, but don't really know how it works or how to program it. Does anyone have any information on this?

What are you trying to use them for?
From what I can remember they were given in the 2011 KOP to track lines on the field. I think they output a digital signal depending on whether they detect a dark object in front of them. See this thread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101976) for wiring information.

That sensor has four wires, with colors Brown, Blue, Black, and White. Brown needs to be connected to 12 volts and Blue goes to "ground"/common. A VRM output would probably be appropriate. Black and White are essentially switches to ground, only one of which is active at a time. Black activates when the sensor is not seeing an object; White activates when it is. Only one of them is necessary, and should be connected to the SIGnal pin of a Digital Input port.
It is a light source and light detector pointing in the same direction. It senses when something is in front of it and reflecting the light.
