I don't know if you saw team 121's drive at the NYC regional, but if you have any interest in how it works, send me an email.
We power all four wheels, the front with drills and the back with fisher price motors. We used casters from the kit with the wheel part removed to create a linkage between the front and back sections. Since we used two casters attached to rotate in different planes, a suspension effect was created. This allows all four wheels to be on the ground at all times, no matter what angle we impact the bridge or 4X6 beam at.
It is also the easiest robot to drive we have ever made.
Best of luck

2 drill motors
2 chains
4 wheels
We use the standard tank steering system. Each motor powers half of the robot. This is probabably the easiest to install & most reliable system out there.
