Nice! Did you check with FIRST on the use of their logo? I know that's been an issue for other teams in the past when they sell stuff with a FIRST logo. Wouldn't want you to run into issues.

I know it was an issue for us. Check out the their Intellectual Property/Trademark (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/About_Us/UseofUSFIRSTandLEGOGroupTrademarksandCopyrightedMa terials_FINAL.pdf) document.

If there are any aspiring (or actual) lawyers out there who can tell that this doc says we CAN sell items with their logo on it, then please let us know. I could be wrong and I would be so happy to be wrong in this case but I don't think we can. ::rtm::

Not a lawyer, but the following seems germane:

Currently registered FIRST teams and FIRST participants may use the FIRST and the Joint FIRST and LEGO Trademarks (word marks and logos), and the LEGO word marks, in a way that relates to their FIRST team names and activities (e.g. the “FRC® Wonderbots” or the “FLL® Rocket Kids.” They do not have to obtain advance permission, use Disclaimers, or provide advance notice to FIRST.

The front is clearly allowed by this. The back does not have any trademarks or service marks (GDC is not in the document).

As I read it, the sleeve is the only questionable portion. It's arguable that since the whole t-shirt is expressly references their "FIRST...activities", it should be OK. Interestingly, if they add a "Team 999" or "MechaRams" under the logo, there would be little doubt.

That seems legit except that the NEXT section discusses FIRST teams using the FIRST trademark to sell commercial items (i.e. t-shirts). In that section it says logos cannot be used.

2. Registered FIRST teams or FIRST participants (i.e., non-profit entities) may use the FIRST and the
Joint FIRST and LEGO Trademarks (word marks, not the logos) and the LEGO word marks, and
Copyrighted Material to conduct activities related to a FIRST program (e.g., an FRC team teaching
skills to an FLL or Jr.FLL team) as long as they use the revenue to underwrite their cost of participation
in FIRST programs and use the Disclaimers. They do not have to obtain advance permission or provide
advance notice to FIRST, but as noted, they are not permitted to use the logos.
