How many autonomous modes do you have?

Right now 3. But, that is because they just got the system working.

I can easily envision more than 6:

1) Do nothing
2) Drive forward over carpet
3) Drive backwards from the other side of the autonomous zone
4) Pick up RC and drive forwards
5) Pick up RC and drive backwards
6) pick up tote, turn, and drive
7) pick up tote, strafe to autozone
8) pick up rc, drive forward, pick up tote, turn, drive to autozone
9) #8 but strafe instead of turn
10+) variation of 2-9, but now driving over scoring platform.
20+) Variation where the robot turns once in the Autozone. That would shorten the profile, and reduce the likelihood the payload goes over the line.

I'm thinking the basic options are:
1) Do nothing
2) Drive forward over carpet
3) Drive backwards from the other side of the autonomous zone
4) Pick up RC and drive forwards
5) Pick up RC and drive backwards
6) pick up tote, turn, and drive
7) pick up rc, drive forward, pick up tote, turn, drive to autozone

With options of: Strafe, drive over step, and rotate right in autozone, rotate left in autozone

We implement a chooser on the screen where the driver checks boxes to tell the robot what to do when autonomous starts.

Turn the robot around, make it one program?

Turn the robot around, make it one program?Depends on just how many milliseconds you're trying to shave off of sprinting for the Step Cans at the teleop buzzer. (Or any number of other reasons.)

My team has found an interesting way of labeling our four modes...

Not so much "forward" and "backward" from the Robot perspective, as it is from the Alliance Station perspective. It may be a different distance, depending upon where you start, and where you want to end up.

There may be a Team 148 type robot where they ask you to start between the Autozone and Landfill, and move across the line.

Last night the programmers had the same question, and I showed them the Team 148 video. They then started brainstorming about doing something productive like pulling totes out of the landfill.

How many autonomous modes?? Just enough to get the job done.:D

The more options our robot has, the less the likelihood of not being chosen because we conflict (or available to be chosen from a smaller pool that compliments the rest of the Alliance).

That is so true for this year. You will need many autonomous to compliment most of your alliances that you are put in during qualifications and make your robot very flexible especially in finals

Actually, we don't have them all coded yet, but we've stubbed out:
Do nothing (you never know)
Drive forward three feet
Tote stack working from step side
Tote stack working from alliance wall side
Carry left RC to the auto zone
Carry center RC to the auto zone
Carry right RC to the auto zone

Actually, in case we're allied with Batman and Robin or other robot that gets all the totes and RCs to the auto zone but cannot get to the auto zone itself, we may add:

Start mining the landfill for teleop points
