What name has your team given to the robot???
Just curious to know what teams have named their robots this year.
It's always fun to guess and imagine what the teams robots look like according to their name. :D

Francois XVI, though the numbering is something that we're only just getting back into doing.
Our robot has several names.
The "official" name is (T2G3R)4.
The nickname is "Peabody". We built two robots, the first was "Atlas" and we switched from planning to bag Atlas to bagging Peabody just a few hours before the bag.
And the name in my head for the robot (and actually the vast majority of the robots this year) is BLL. That's from Star Wars IV (A New Hope).
Why, my first job was programming binary load lifters, quite similar to your evaporators in most respects.

Our prototype robot is always named Tartarus for the grief it gives us. We are on Tartarus 7.
Our competition bot this year is Pricus: the immortal father of all sea-goats.

Ironically, our team voted on "The Pickup Line".
Runner-up (which I personally voted for) was The "SS Gaylord" where "SS" stood for "Sexy Stacker." Gaylord is another name for tote.

Our robots name is BARF. It stands for Bad A** Robot Forklift. We are really bad at coming up with names. :-)
Team 1708 named their robot "Kryponite" and will have a reveal video soon. *hopefully* :)

It's our 7th year as a team, hence the VII, and We always have Swag or YOLO in the name. This year we got a mill and used a stencil font to cut the name of the team into the chassis. The best stencil font we could find was "Braggadocio," hence the name.

The original name for our robot was RIPTIDE and now that we have made some pretty serious changes we renamed it Sarcastabot because we just kept going.

The robot is predominantly white, and the snow in New England had a dramatic effect on our build season.

Our robot's full name is Centurion droptables, or Centurion for short. It is named for both the Centurion tank and the roman warrior and the droptables if for all you coders out there :cool:. We will have some pictures and our reveal soon.

We cycled through a few.
Originally, people wanted to name it Atlas. A few members and I shot that down because I predicted it'd end up being too common a name.
About week 4-5, people suggested Murphy, because all that could go wrong, did go wrong.
After the amount of chaos this season, the disorder created by the immense changes from past games, the tendency of stacks to fall over, and to start a new tradition of naming robots after physics terms (last year was Impulse), we named the robot Entropy.

One of their subsidiary is Otis Elevator.
We have an elevator for a lift.
We don't have a name yet. :,(
Against my wishes, my team has named the robot Shia LaBOT because... I have no idea, teenagers are weird.

This year we took a very ambitious route and built 2 different robots. On Saturday night we liked the front end of one and the back end of the other and merged them. The result was......FRANKENBUNNY!!!

The German students beat out the Latin students on our team, and so we ended up with

Officially/technically the name is Talon XVI.
But a group of the students have nicknamed our bot Planet Fitness... because "we pick things up and put them down". :yikes:
Personally I would opt for Hans and Franz for the same reason (the original from SNL, but they might not be old enough for that reference).

Our robot's name is The Beach Master. Although our team is keeping our robot under wraps until Dallas and Colorado, I can tell you that it is beacuse our robot is big, ugly, loud, and very much fits the description that this short video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oag7B_mMio) will provide.
I might be calling my own robot some things that might not sound great but we were not trying to make something that pleased the eye we were trying to make something that was efficient and effective.

Originally we were going to name ours the Two Towers from LOTR since we have our internal stacking area and our electrical housing area which were two "towers" but we voted against it.
We have an internal stacking system that we use, and to reach out for the totes we have a horizontal scissor lift with a pneumatically controlled claw on the end of it, and for a lot of people it reminded them of Alien from Alien vs. Predator and I think we've narrowed it down to Alien, Paul (like the movie about the alien named Paul), or Xenomorph (the species Alien is in AvP).

Our team always likes to let our robot names appear organically as opposed to sitting down and coming up with something. Generally, someone will say something stupid or tell a funny story and the robot name will just jump out. For this year, a new mentor on the team told a funny story about how he got his nickname.

This might be an unintended relation, but Operation rolling thunder was one of the most efective operations ever by the United States Air Force!:cool:

Our robot is Sam. Also Bad Robot XII. In our first year the robot was named Zoltan. After that, it was Bad Robot I, Bad Robot II, ...
In 2005 we also called the robot Low Rider (less than 0.5" of ground clearance). In 2010 our Engineering Director named the robot (Bad Robot VII) Stella. And since then it has been the privilege of of the Engineer Director or Directors to name the robot and practice robot. After Stella was Shelby.
Then we had Mike for Rebound Rumble. Some kids objected and said it should be a female name, but our Engineering Director Lindsey pointed out that
(1) She was the Engineering Director and she was going to name the basketball robot after Michael Jordan.
and
(2) The previous two male Engineering Directors gave their robots female names so she was using a male name.
This year we had co-Directors, with one female and one male, so they choose a gender neutral name, Sam. (I did make an early play for Pat, but Sam is a good name.)
