Yet another jaw-dropping machine from 118.
Can't wait to check it out for myself next week!
Beautiful.

I can just imagine the complexity of the math you'd need to do to model that mechanism...
That rotating trash can arm is just a thing of engineering beauty.

Congratulations!! Another beautiful robot! The way you manipulate the trashcan is amazing, With your robots you always accomplish every task.

That container wrist grabber is oddly reminiscent of your 2014 robot. And my that wrist motion.
I am trying to figure out what I am not getting in the last scene of the video......
Amazing robot again!

same.
Incredible. Definitely the best I've seen so far.
The 2 can auton is amazing given the speed of it. Better than a slower 4 can auton IMO.
EDIT: Wow. What material are your rollers made of?

Favorite feature, by far, is the passive tote/RC settler the slides up the elevator rails with the top of the stack. Genius.
So glad you guys will be coming to Sac. Just be sure to bring a Wild Card with you ;)

That trash can rotation...
Yeah... I watched the close up of that claw rotation about 15 times a slow speed. VERY impressive mechanism with a simple actuation.
I love that wrist. It's pure mechanical poetry. For 2015, this is the definition of versatile utility bot. Plug and play in any role, at any location, and be exceptional.
Surprisingly, there's some stuff here that functionally resembles another 2015 bot I may or may not be particularly familiar with... ;)
Amazing job, as always, guys! Looking forward to seeing it in action on the field.

Certain super teams I like to personally evaluate the robots they submit through a sheet I have to dissect the design. It helps with my scouting information, this being said...
Every year I set out a scale which I try and use to measure the ability of super teams. Every year you guys come in and throw that scale on its head. I don't even know why I try anymore. You guys consistently blow my mind with your design.

Definitely not! Just be ready to play hard (Not that we don't have to do that anyway).
Another Robonaut unveil video, another song for the playlist... :)
The entire robot is a marvel of engineering beauty, as always. I'm really excited to see this thing up close.
I'm glad to see your 2 can grabber is successful. People told us to build an autonomous can grabber, but we misunderstood what they meant.

Is it bad that I've watched this like 20 times repeatedly and I still haven't gotten over how amazing it is?

I'm always amazed by how much detail goes into all of the sub-assemblies of your robots, and I love how they're always littered with clever little mechanisms. The fact that you can design, build, and test such a complicated robot in six weeks is astounding!
So, the rest of us should just stay home:D ?
Definitely not! They need you to get into the auto zone. Just ask. They will probably come over to your pit and program your sled so it will get into the zone with them. Think about what else you could do to help.
I am wondering how many casts were filmed before they caught both containers from the step. :D
Sorry to miss it in person.

An inspiration as usual. Well done.
Really great Video and soundtrack as usual !
My favorite device is definitely the passive stack topper.
Week 1 Dallas is going to be amazing with most of the Texas powerhouses plus 987 & 932

That's a good question for many teams!
We have to pack our robot in a crate for 3 of our 4 events.
We spent an entire day yesterday figuring out how to best pack our robot and items in our new crate since it has to be 48 x 48 x 48in., which is much shorter than our regular one. If it was the standard 68in high, FIRST Australia said it had to be on its side at certain points of the shipping.

I am not even sure if ours will need to be crated or not yet.. I guess we will cross that bridge if we get there. :p Mandatory crating for the unexpected teams may cause a bit of crisis for some. Anyways, I am looking forward to playing with you guys at 118!
So Which intake wheels do you like better? You see 3 different versions. (white treat, single black wheel, double black wheels)

You're so right, that's my attitude toward competing at Dallas next week. A week one regional with so many powerhouses and rising stars? No one is top dog at Dallas this year until the field lights go green on the last finals match.

An astronaut dummy? I don't get it.
I believe that is a "Robonaut", which is the technical term for a robotic astronaut. A fitting pun for a 118 video!
Excellence in execution, as always. Giving us a lot to think about with our 30 pound allowance and time prior to first regional.

The humanoid robot in the background is Robonaut 2, or R2. An upper body very similar to the one you see in the video was launched to the International Space Station in February of 2011. The climbing legs you see in the video are a more recent addition, having launched on SpaceX-3 in April of last year. Since then, a lot of work has gone into attaching the legs to the upper body, and implementing the software and hardware upgrades required to enable R2 to work as one robot. Much of the future work will be into finding ways that R2 can offload boring or repetitive maintenance tasks that astronauts are now required to do, allowing them to spend more time doing the science that they're there for.
