Lets share some of the unique designs that were seen so far.
Were there any crane robots?
Where there any other conveyor robots besides the one in Isreal?
How many #teamtether were there?
Others?
Lets share some of the unique designs that were seen so far.

2028 in Palmetto (and attending VAR) is a conveyor robot.

If possible be sure to add Team Numbers at a minimum.
Pictures and/or Video would be even better.

Or videos, I suppose.
246 has a unique robot design: 3-wheel swerve on deploying modules, a very flexible arm, and a great landfill mining mechanism is a combination of machine attributes I have not seen on any other robot. They won the creativity award at GSDE this weekend too, so congratulations to them!

4828 has a conveyor belt design we are excited to premiere at the North Carolina regional!
Gee I dunno, would this be unique?

There is a picture of our robot, just for clarification. And yes, we are excited to be attending the Virginia Regional again. The Week 1 event was rough, and we are excited to see the talented teams we know will be attending Richmond.

When I saw the first match where you guys lined up and built a stack with your arm my jaw dropped. Crazy robot!
Our robot has elements similar to a lot of other concepts but I haven't yet seen anything else exactly like it (Deployed input ramp, sideways can arm, internal stacker on platform, etc). Here's a video (Robot was running a bit weird because the gyro died again in this match): http://youtu.be/nr-I2IJhY8A

Is there anyone with unique autonomous routines or systems??
Kinda disappointed by what I saw in week one.. Seems like a lot of teams ignored autonomous this year.

Both 236 and 237 had incredible autonomous routines this past weekend in Waterbury.
236 had a unique tote stack auto, and 237 had a unique step container auto.
And 987's autonomous routine was incredible.

After watching FRCTop25 Premiere Night and some of the Week 1 competitions I am very impressed with the creative approach to this year's challenge (as well as the incredible skills of teams documenting their journey).
If you are a team with unique and innovative design, manufacturing, and/or control processes and are interested in the chance to be a part of the next book about FRC robots, please let Vince and I know! You can send a note to FRCBook2015@usfirst.org and we will forward details on the submittal process.
Good luck teams!

In teleop we have written code for the robot to work in an Auto-Pilot Mode where it makes its own stacks and feeds them to the scoring platform only requiring our human player to feed it totes. i will try to find some video of it and post it later.

987 was able to get nearly every possible autonomous item and score it, the only exception was that they miss one container so it isn't counted as a container set, but besides that they could score every possible autonomous point if they were alone. There should be some videos on it in dallasfirstvideo.com.

I can't seem to navigate the site well enough to see the videos, but I do wonder how they could get the maximum autonomous points:
Robot Set - 4 points
Container Set - 8 points
Stacked Tote Set - 20 points
Total is 32 points.
Could they get a robot set by themselves? If not, and they don't get the container set as well (you said they didn't), then it's just the standard 20 points from the stacked tote set that we've seen from some other teams.
EDIT: Of course I could just watch the video (http://www.thebluealliance.com/match/2015txda_f1m2) on TBA. That is a sweet autonomous!!! One robot, two containers, three totes.

I believe they get 2 RCs and all 3 yellow totes and then move into the auto zone. An impressive feat to say the least.

Just learned this weekend: you can get a robot set by yourself if you're the only robot!
Just learned this weekend: you can get a robot set by yourself if you're the only robot!
Whoa!
A ROBOT SET requires all ROBOTS from an ALLIANCE who are playing in a particular MATCH in order to be scored. For example, if ROBOTS A, B and C are on an ALLIANCE, but ROBOT B is not on the FIELD for a particular MATCH (or has been DISABLED by the FIELD staff prior to the MATCH), the ROBOT SET only requires two (2) ROBOTS.
And I thought I read through the manual. Must have skimmed over that part... :ahh:
Seems like the rule might apply to the vacuous truth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuous_truth) case of 0 robots on the field. Does this mean the maximum score you can get with no robots on an alliance is 44 points? Maybe this has been discussed somewhere else. Not a bad score though!

Hmm, I thought there might be a way to watch matches individually, I guess not. But yes, a robot set could count if there is only one robot in the field.

Very cool, but how is this any less illegal than 148's Alfred string set?
Very cool, but how is this any less illegal than 148's Alfred string set?As an unofficial guess, the argument about Alfred seemed to be more about placement than the string itself. Since it was suspended between multiple tether bots, it spanned the alliance's field and was at approximate walking-into level. I looks like you'd have to try to walk into this setup (unless I can't see all of it), thus making it less of a safety hazard.

Ill try and answer these questions a little bit here.
The main difference I see between this and alfred is the string we chose. The students purposely chose the style of string because of the size and color. We could have gone with a much smaller for example mono-filament fishing line, but we found in our testing that the visibility of this was quite dangerous. We then moved on to our current option which is a braided line that is neon orange and easily visible. (even in the webcast)
We were also warned throughly during inspections about the entanglement hazards our system poses. We assured the inspector that with proper coordination with our alliance partners as well as our lengthy testing before bag 'n tag that it would not be a problem.
Our strategy team also brought specific rules and responses from Q&A to help support our design.
Keep an eye out for a full featured reveal/recap video towards Friday (3/6) :D

Team 4183 the Bit Buckets used the laser cutter at our build space, Xerocraft, to make a wooden robot that mines the landfill, and makes and caps stacks of four.
The laser cutter bed is only 29x17", so we had to use many pieces of wood bolted together to make the larger components. The drive base is three wood sheets long, and the elevator is three sheets tall. No glue used - it can be completely disassembled with a screwdriver.
It seems to have worked. We won the Arizona East regional as well as the Creativity Award.

Since I have yet to see the PNW on here much, time for an update from up here :D
FRC 1318 has a cool step container auto Mechanism and their ally (and best friends, apparently) fold up their robot to fit into transport configuration. I have no idea how it works, but it does.
http://www.thebluealliance.com/match/2015waamv_f1m1
In that video you will also see my team (the beautiful black monstrosity)... we have a relatively unique claw- it's one of those little claws that just sticks in under the side of the tote, but then we stabilize it with a pneumatic foot, allowing us to (after modifications post the event in the video) still lift up to 6 totes
This video shows us with the foot working (nice closeup at about 45 seconds in), as well as our 3 tote auto, but on the blue alliance is 3218, with the weirdest claw/lifter ...thing... I have seen yet

195's Tech Valley redesign is remarkable and unique. Their entire elevator slides across their robot. This serves to both push stacks off the human loading platform that is their robot onto the scoring platform, as well as allow the arms to extend outside the robot to grab containers from the floor.
They also have a swerve drive and a small ramp that makes their human loading even more efficient.
