Is it normal for match schedules to be posted before the practice day of a competition? I've never seen that before.

Quals 26 should be fun - 1241, 1285, and 1310 on the same alliance.

I feel sorry for the other alliance. A win is nearly impossible.

Either all teams checked in with pit admin this evening or they're testing matchmaker for some reason.

The general rule is you don't build and activate the qualification schedule until you know that all of the teams have shown up. For me, that usually means a stroll over to pit admin about 10:00 on Thursday at which point they're still typically waiting on 2 to 3 teams.

It's very rare for teams to not show up, but it does happen. I wouldn't depend on that schedule being accurate until you see the paper copies at pit admin.

In qualifications win are not nearly impossible because they are Impossible.

Since it's not head to head, a "win" is irrelevant, the other side of the field only needs to improve on their own averages.

One of the interesting things we discovered during week 1... It's very difficult to get the match schedules generated while trying to run matches. The FTA's will either need to generate before practice matches begin, or wait until after they're over, which is pretty late in the evening.

But the FTA definitely DOES need to know that everyone has shown up and is going to play before generating the schedule. That way we can be assured that 3 teams are present for every alliance in every match (not 3 robots, as robots occasionally break and can't make it, but still, 3 teams).

I really should start outlining my sarcasm with more obvious notation.

For the record, whenever I see you post anything, I assume its sarcastic until proven legit.

That's a side effect of moving the practice schedule back into the afternoon. Last year, you could build the qualification schedule during the lunch break in the practice schedule but now, that's when practice starts so it's a bit more complex to find a time to shoehorn in building the qualification schedule.

[FiM] Waterford has a practice schedule created...I don't remember having a practice schedule at a district before. At the State Champs it's every year, but a district? What is this world coming to? ORGANIZATION?! WAT!

What about:
1) Generate a match schedule before practice matches begin based upon either: a) all teams showing up; or b) a teams that have shown up by 30 minutes prior to when practice matches begin. If all teams show up, you are good to go. Otherwise, you have to regenerate anyway.

Or

2) When generating the practice schedule, put in a 15 minute break around 3pm, and generate the match schedule then.

We generate a practice schedule at the FiM districts so when we run practice we have log data for the matches, in case we or HQ need to look at something. Practice will most likely still be open, but check with your FTA to be sure.
