This post about #TeamTetherClub (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135520) reminded me that I would like to get a list going of the teams that have done a 20 Point Auton in an actual competition match.

I have seen 1519 do it over and over at the Granite State District in Naushua (here is a link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs857XTYGB4) to one of the matches where they did it)

Please share your team numbers and a link to a video of them doing it if possible.

Teams 624( demoed throughout the elims at Dallas) and 148(their reveal video, they didn't do it at Dallas due to Alfred being ruled illegal) are the teams I can think of off the top of my mind.

While we are yapping about the #Team20PointAuton Club, I am interested in all ya'all's estimate of the rarity of this particular skill.

For me, I think Week1 this was a 1 in 40 to maybe 1 in 60 skill.

I base this on the fact that it seems that there were ~1 per District or Regional during Week1. I know that there were some with more than one but there were some (many?) with zero.

If I had to guess, I would say by Week5, it is going to be a 1 in 15 or so skill (2-3 per competition) and by Week7 (District Championships), I suppose it will be close to 1 in 8.

What say you?

I think the rarity of the skill will still remain pretty high, and at champs I think you will only see a 20pt. auto ever 2-3 qual. matches.

I can say for our team we had to sacrifice other features for the 20pt. auto ability. And it was definitely not easy to nail down.

I have to agree with this. Hopefully, ours will be on display tomorrow.... However, it was difficult to get down. According to our long-time lead programming mentor, it's "the hardest autonomous routine we've ever done." We made very specific design decisions early in order to make it happen, sacrificing other things.

Yes that may be a issue. If it's a small bot they can just drive forward and push it. Otherwise we will try to help others with a auto that will work with us.

I suspect it's going to stay relatively rare during most regionals. Getting the 3-tote autonomous is difficult without practice/tuning, and if you don't already have the right sensors/gyro/speed it's going to be difficult to catch up.

We did it repeatedly this weekend - though we had some fails, too... We actually had *five* collisions during autonomous in 12 qualification matches when robots either did something very unexpectedly or the drivers insisted on "strutting" their "I can roll forward!" autonomous. One was as hard as some of last year's collisions when a partner, starting next to the landfill, came flying backwards full speed and creamed is as we were trying to pick up the second tote... Ah, the adventures of competition....

Nice! I was just noticing that most teams do autonomous the same way, but this is the first one I've seen that travels along the wall like we do.

We actually incorporated a set of wheels on the back of the robot that are parallel to the floor to allow us to strafe along the wall easier without snagging on the wall.

Our biggest issue was that we needed a wall to dial in some of the timing and the practice field at Waterford didn't have a wall at all that we could use. If we would have had a wall I think we could have dialed the settings in after our first or second match and been able to do it consistently for every match.

Adam it was a blast to get to play against your team in the Finals. I was hoping that we would have been able to run our 3 tote auto against yours, however we ended up damaging one of our sensors in one of the quarter finals matches trying to dig out the landfill area and had to not run it.

It took us most of the seeding matches to get it right but we got 20 points or more 7 out of 8 times in auto in the quarterfinals on. We did 5 of 8 perfect 28 pts and 2 at 20 points when we missed the last bin and one total fail when we missed the 2nd bin. You can see it here http://youtu.be/nswQ-hb73n0

Very nice. We had tons of programming issues with ours that only started to get worked completely out on Saturday. We were still "tweakling" in the quarter finals but in the QF's to finals we played 8 matches and got 5 of 8 28 point solos and 20 points for bin stack 7 of 8 and totally failed 1 of 8. (We missed the 2nd bin) Congrats to team 67 but I afraid if we are cursed whenever we are in an alliance together!!! Did I say that, I am not superstitious. Where is my rabbits foot.

1519 strafes along the wall in the same way -- I've seen about a half-dozen videos of other teams that use identically this approach. We also have "wall-following wheels" mounted on the back of the robot to aid following the wall.

For video, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_S9iiDXu8vY#t=245 taken by our alliance partners, Team 95 The Grasshoppers from the Week 1 Granite State District Event. (The linked match was the highest-scoring elimination match of the tournament, at 137 points.)

Nice. We played with the idea of wall-following wheels, but we actually use a infrared distance sensor + PID to detect how far we are and just glide along the wall without hitting it.

1678 and 254 are in the club.

Additionally, 1678 went 8 for 8 on 3 tote auto attempts in quals, then proceeded to go 8 for 8 on 2 step RC grab attempts in the last qual match and all through playoffs.

Best part, all of our programmers (including lead) are sophomores or younger. We have some good years ahead :D

It was a 4 RC grabber. The students spent nearly 7 weeks developing the system. They agreed that we had to scrap it after seeing 3310's 2 RC grabber. 1 second just isn't fast enough.

It is quite an engineering marvel though, I'll post a video of it in action when I get back from Japan.

I'm proud of the students, they built the 2 RC grabber (totally different mechanism) in less than 2 weeks, and it clocks in somewhere around .3 seconds. They're currently iterating on that design right now.

Shout out to Team #246, Overclocked, who worked tirelessly throughout the NE UMass Dartmouth District event to secure entry to the club for #Team20PointAuton -- they completed it successfully at least 6 times on Saturday.

It also has to be the most amazingly incredible 20-point autonomous I've seen -- Rube Goldberg has nothing over 246, Overclocked! You've got to see it to believe it -- I don't have video, but hopefully they can post one for all to see!

When they got the 20-point auto working today it definitely gave us something to worry about in eliminations!

Team 4613 should have the max auto points down pat as long as they can get their alliance partners to just drive straight into the zone.

What a great single bot auto solution and much more!

Watch 1:09~1:24 (the action appears well completed before the 15 second point by the bot), 3 Yellow Tote Stack, 3 RC Set, their 1/3 Robot Set. And all 3 RC's ready to use for stacking/capping stacks too and out of the way off the really usually cramped floor.

Yes, we are finally in the #Team20PointAuton Club as of the UMass Dartmouth District (example video here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdGENF5lflo))

Even so, oh how I wish we had another 6 hours Unbagging between now a NE District Championships as we are not as consistent as we want to be.

We just had a string of small problems that kept from reaching our full potential to this point (yeah, I know, we've seeded 8th, 5th, & 2nd and reached the finals twice with one blue banner -- but I still feel we have room to grow). Chain loosening & jumping track, PWM wires unplugging, Sensor wires unplugging, Banebot motors dying, and (the crowning glory) an axle breaking some time before our two Finals matches that went undiscovered until we were back in the pits packing up (still not sure how we actually ran at all yet alone made and canned several 5 stacks with a broken axle, literally sheared in two, but we managed it).

In fact, that is our theme for the NE Districts Championships: Get Consistent, Get to St. Louis*.

We've got 4 weeks to get ready for the NE District Championships. We are taking a week off then full speed to get consistent for WPI.

Just downloaded Ed Law's awesome 2015 OPR After Week Three Events (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=135810) Great stuff.

One of the things I do every week is add columns to normalize all the point data for number of matches played and then put in columns that show PercentRank.Inc() of these values. Very insightful data set.

Anyway, looking at Normalized Auton Points you can pretty much see who has a reliable 20 point Auton (or at least who had won at there first competition and hasn't screwed it up in the mean time).

FWIW, here are the top 40 teams ranked by Auton Points Per Match:

Team# AvgAutonPerMatch

1519 18.08
2512 17.78
1678 16.80
254 16.40
1730 16.00
624 15.40
2056 14.60
987 14.00
1114 12.60
2337 12.67
4003 10.33
236 10.00
2383 10.30
1310 9.40
70 8.83
2481 8.00
948 8.33
2054 7.67
319 7.83
330 7.11
225 6.67
67 5.67
118 6.00
1322 6.00
3350 6.00
2848 6.00
3132 5.50
2423 5.33
1507 5.11
854 4.80
5282 4.67
5759 4.80
5134 4.80
4643 4.80
256 4.80
3360 4.60
3282 4.40
5454 4.40
3355 4.40
894 4.33

For what it is worth, I think 1519 is probably a lot better than 9 out of 10 at hitting it these days. I've seen them at two districts now. The majority of their misses were early on at there Week 1 Event. If you get a chance, check out their robot. Simple and functional. Drivers with ice in their veins. Oh... ...and a killer 20 point auton.

FWIW.

329 was very impressive. I watched them during practice figure it all out and by the end it was working flawlessly. Although it did knock all the cans over. Shouldn't be an issue at cmp tho as most teams have figured out to pick up sideways bins or have mechanisms to make then go right side up.

329 is excited to have joined the 20 point auto club this week at SBPLI. After unveiling our can burglar last week at Waterloo we decided to try this out. We were able to hit 8 of 9 in Quals (the one was only counted as a 6 point due to contact) and 5/5 in playoffs. It looks chaotic but has proven itself tremendously reliable. I'll post a link when we get our videos together. So proud of the team for putting it together!

Congratz guys really impressed with you guys today it's too bad you didn't progress to finals but I still think your robot was one of the best out there.

1100 had a 20 point auto dialed in by the end of RIDE, which played a large role in their victory from the 5th alliance.

Thanks a lot! The whole regional was a lot of fun.

Wave 2826 does a great job with their 20pt auto. I don't think their cans end inside the zone, but they are huge for their teleop strategy. It took them until just before elims to dial it in at WI, but its pretty consistent now.

4499 got our 20pt auto working for eliminations in Colorado, and it worked for all 8 subsequent matches ( we replayed a semifinal, so we had two quarterfinals, 4 semifinals, and lost in 2 in the finals). I will post video when I get home.

At the Las Vegas Regional, Team 3309 proved they are worthy of being in this hashtag.

Finally got our auto dialed in at LV, I have to say I haven't yet seen a team approach it quite like we did. Not disturbing the cans seems to be a nice advantage! :)

TechFire 225 reaffirmed their status in #Team20PointAuton at the Upper Darby MAR District, with a more consistent showing, getting it in 10/12 Quals matches. You can see it here: https://youtu.be/ejxd2bmLn3s?t=3h16m13s

Team 230 Gaelhawks just joined the #Team20PointAuto this past weekend by introducing our newest autonomous mode. We managed to score with it fairly consistently scoring in 6 of the 9 matches we ran it. But we did end with more than double the autonomous point of the rest of the teams because there were only 2 autonomous tote stackers.

FIRST Team 3132 is very happy to be part of the club doing the tote stack! We got ours working at the Australia Regional in Week 3 and than tuned it up to well-over 90% repeatability for the Hawaii Regional in week 5.

We've developed a new three-tote autonomous for champs that doesn't knock over the cans! See it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK6j6uEaw9Y&feature=youtu.be

It should be far more consistent as we now don't have to deal with the variable of the rolling cans.

S.W.A.T. 1806 is finally joining the club. After working through two regionals, and having numerous problems getting our auto to work consistently enough that we felt comfortable enough to use it, we are finally ready to join #team20PointAuto at champs! Can't wait to see everyone there.
