RoboZone

Check out this great TV show (http://statechampsnetwork.com/index.cfm/state-champs-videos-shows/?channel=9C4E3171-5056-8946-89498F78FA0189EC) from Michigan about FRC.

The show is produced by the State Champs! Network, which is dedicated to High School sports in Michigan, and is broadcast on several local TV channels as well as made available on the web. Weekly shows throughout the season are planned.

Enhanced Chairman’s Award Resources

Check out the submissions, Chairman’s videos, and presentation videos from teams earning the Chairman’s Award so far this season here (http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/chairmans-award-resources/2015-chairmans-award-winners%20).

We’re still missing most presentation videos, but we are hoping to have more soon. Teams that earn the Chairman’s Award receive an email, directed to the main contact, alternate contact, and award submitter, asking them to log into STIMS and enter links to both their Chairman’s Award video and their Chairman’s Presentation video. If you are one of these teams, please enter that information as soon as you are able. Other teams want to see how you did what you did to earn the award!

I'm really excited to have these Chairman's resources available. From a team that has yet to submit for Chairman's, these will be an amazing resource for us when we make our first submission in the next year or two.

This is certainly one of my favorite new things from FIRST this year, right up there with the new wildcard rules.

I love the new openness surrounding Chairman's - it's great to see all of the different approaches that teams take to earn the award.

Additionally, and I'm not sure that this is phrased well, I think this will force teams to be a little more honest in their submissions. Previously, there wasn't a lot of accountability for the claims made in the submission, since judges don't have a solid way to fact-check everything, but now that submissions are public, hopefully teams won't stretch the truth. I personally haven't seen much of this, but I've heard from others that it's sometimes an issue.

I literally just noticed this while checking the blog for something else and the new Chairman's page is one of my favorite things this season. Reading through these, it's impossible not to be inspired by the fantastic work of teams all across the country.

Now if only we could get feedback again...
