This thread is about exactly what you think it is: the naming of match videos. Videos have become much harder to find recently on youtube, whether this be because teams are posting them or because I just can't find them. But has anyone ever thought about a standard for naming match videos? Like "FRC West Michigan 2015 match 4" or "FRC Waterloo 2015 match SF3". Personally I would love to see something like this agreed upon because it would make finding match videos much much easier.

You can make a 'standard' for naming match footage, but that in no way means that everyone is going to follow it. A large portion of FRC isn't active on Chief Delphi and may not see this thread. And, as the years go on and team members roll over, the new members may name their videos differently. It also would be a huge challenge to rename all of the match footage that currently exists online, so if a standard is attempted to be created, I feel that it should begin to be 'enforced' in 2016. With that said, I do feel that a universal naming convention would be nice.

Luckily, however, no matter what a team names their footage, most makes its way to The Blue Alliance (http://www.thebluealliance.com/), where it is extremely easy to search for match videos.

As for what Team 1676 (https://www.youtube.com/user/Team1676) currently names all of our match footage, we go with "Year Competition - Match Type Match Number". For example, "2015 Waterloo Regional - Semifinal 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvtbaBputr4&list=PLPUJJPXRAlES3KZHx725pnf0dxNccG9jD&index=79)", with all of a competition's matches grouped in a playlist named "Competition Year", or in this case, "Waterloo Regional 2015 (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPUJJPXRAlES3KZHx725pnf0dxNccG9jD)".

You guys do a great job naming your videos and actually your videos fit the "standard" I would like to see almost perfectly.

These are also a great example of naming using the "standard"

Both of these examples include the essential information that some videos are missing. If I were to search on youtube FRC PNW (which I did) I could easily find the playlists.

I agree that getting every video changed would be a hassle and I don't want teams to change the names of the videos they have already put up, just use the "standard" for future reference.
And I think this would make people outside of FIRST much more capable of finding videos
