Coach on team #25, Raider Robotix, from North Brunswick Twp. H.S. and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Everybody seems to be on the topic of what to do if FIRST outgrows EPCOT- here is another view
Consider dividing the country into 4-6 large regions which each have a handfull of regional events. Every year the National event changes venue to a large theme park in one of the 4-6 major regions. This would allow small teams from each section of the country to have at least a chance of getting to a National event when it is in their neighborhood. The change of venue would expose the travelling teams to new sections of the American culture and the proximity of the big event would be a shot in the arm for the FIRST program in that region of the country every few years.
Disney has been great to FIRST and we should always be grateful for it. Maybe Anaheim,Cal. is a possible site? Or how about the Six Flags theme park chain? They have big crowd venues all over the country.
In any case- the guys in the FIRST office will no doubt be left with THAT major problem to solve. They might appreciate the help of our regional teams....
WC- looking forward to the Nationals in Honolulu.....
