Just a quick questions that may not be possible to answer. Our district is putting together a colander and I would like to put the 2016 FRC season events on it.

When is kick off?
When are the dates for the Duluth regional.

Thanks for always being a great resource!

Kickoff: Always the first Saturday in January, unless it's deemed too close to New Year's--which happens to be the case for 2016. January 9th it is. (Source: FRC official calendar)

Any given regional... add 6 weeks to the Kickoff, so either the last weekend in February or the first weekend in March is Week 1. Add 5 more weekends. Somewhere in that window is where the regional in question will land.

More specific regional dates will have to wait for August or so, as venue contracts are signed.

Putting it together this early, perhaps the original spelling is more appropriate, because it's sure to be full of holes.

There are no official dates for the Duluth regionals yet... And there likely won't be for several more months, until all regional dates start posting.

But, if your a betting person, I would bet on weeks 1 or 2. Traditionally Duluth is an early one, while Milwaukee is in the middle and Minneapolis near the end (being 5 regionals that are geographically close, thus important to plan apart since they pull from the same pool of teams). Of course, with the growth in Minnesota and surrounding states, there's been rumor of another regional coming to the area. Maybe someplace in southern or north-Western Minnesota, maybe in Iowa, maybe Western Wisconsin... I know people who are working on making it happen for all of those areas! If we do get another regional in the area, however, it's quite possible that some shuffling will go on to reduce/eliminate overlap with the other regionals.

Hawaii is "unofficially" Week 4 during our University Spring Break.

Jon provides good detail on the constraints that drive the upper Midwestern regional schedules.

Based on a January 9 start, a six week build season puts stop build day on Tuesday February 23, and week 1 events starting eight days later on March 2.

A key date for the Minneapolis regionals is the last day that the Gopher Men's Hockey team has a home game. They haven't posted their schedule yet (should be very soon), but the tournament starts on March 25 so it must be before then.
