Robot Drive feature use

I was wondering if anyone uses the Transform and Inverse Transform options of Robot Drive or Motor Open?

I know what they do, but there are other ways to get the job done, and they are hard enough to use that I would like to know if anyone bothers.

If you do, please describe a bit about how you use it.

I was never able to figure out what they did, and therefore have not used them. It is possible that using those could be a better alternative to something I already do, and I would use them if I knew how to. Maybe you can explain what they are used for and how to use them?

EDIT: I am talking about using them for the Motor Open block, as I program my own drive controls so I don't use Robot Drive.
