Stronghold Arena Boulder "rings"

Has anyone found the dimensions of the “Small Rings” that with hold the boulders at the field center-line? We have some concerns about loose pieces getting caught up in the bot.

The term is only mentioned once in the Game Manual:

Six (6) BOULDERS are staged evenly along the length of the Midline, 3 ft. 9-1/2 in. apart as shown in Figure 2-35. Small rings are used to keep them in place prior to the start of a MATCH.

Given the wording, I would say that they would remove the small rings after (edit: right before) the match starts.

How? Humans can't be on the field after the match starts.

My assumption was that the were under the tape that way they are always in the same spot.

My guess is that they put marks on the carpet where the rings go, and the rings are not attached to the field (just sit on the field).

There are many rings of power in this arena, and none of them are to be taken LIGHTLY!:D
