Do any teams use any specific naming conventions for their wiring board? We just seem to use leftdrive 1, leftdrive 2 and so on as naming for our motors and wires to trace them. What does your team use?

This year we have used the stickers that were included in the Kit of parts by Vex Pro to number our motors and the corresponding talons. in addition if there is another junction between the wire and the output we will also label the wire with electrical tape.

Hello,

Last year we used labeled stickers for our wires, more specifically

As for our naming/numbering system, we just started labeling so each 'thread' of connections had a unique number.

It was a bit weird to understand, however, once you get used to numbering system everything makes sense.

Feel free to look at our attached block diagram..

The conventions for naming need to make sense for your programmers, your controls team, and your pit crew. Our labels have ranged from the ridiculous (a motor named "Tickle") to the sublime (resistor color code tape on every port, controller, and actuator associated with a degree of freedom, with no text at all added by the team). In each case, the same label was noted within the software (in comments), in the controls build docs, and in the pit crew maintenance docs.
