Think outside the box. Cookies, brownies,Cheese and crackers, truffles, bowl of nuts, bags of popcorn. The plate (or bag) can have your team number.

Airline size bottles of adult beverages, $ in your palm while you shake the Ref's hand, also works - jk

All sage advice. I will pass this on to my students, without the recommendation of adult beverages of course (don't want them in trouble you know). I will tell them it came from an anonymous adviser. Hahahahaha

C'mon guys, you know it's the JUDGES you're supposed to bribe. Not the REFS, because they're not corruptible.

Exactly the point I was trying to make: We'll happily divvy up anything you give us, but we have a very short-term memory (and, to protect the not-so-innocent, will generally "greek*" anything we're given), so don't expect it to make any difference.

Judges, on the other hand, will happily visibly wear anything you give them.

*greek: As used in productions, refers to the practice of removing labels from water bottles so they won't show up on cameras.
