Pre Calc (Only 1st semester)/ Algebra II (second semester retake)
Hey quit your complaining..... Ive been back since August 14th, im used to it already :D
At my HS:
Spanish V
At the U of MN:
H. Phys (Calc-based)
Modern fiction
CSci 1901 (Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs)
Today, I had THR 116 - Stagecraft II. It'll be a breeze, if I don't drop it. We have to do 40 hours worth of lab work during the semester, and I don't know if I have the time.
Tomorrow;
HIS 103 - American History to 1877 - a refresher. I placed out of this.
HIS 250 - Second World War 1939-1945
HIS 264 - Birth of Modern America
HIS 268 - Recent U.S. History - 1919 to Present
Not a single math, science or engineering course anywhere to be found.
I am delighted.

Yes, we have a F.I.R.S.T. robotics class, we do all sorts of engineering stuff during the off season, we work with cad, lego-league ( mentoring middle school lego robotics teams ) cart races ( look at our webpage www.dabear247.net ) We also do off season events such as Occra, and CD. The program has it's own area in the school, the old auto shop, we don't have any machines in there, we go to a local college to build stuff, but it's ours! hahaha!....my picture in my profile is me in my first class, getting work done, as usual.
we have a school class (starting this year). we had some problems with finding a good teacher, and a place for it, but we solved that. now the only problem is making sure the school lets us use the same room from last year. my school is too cheap (stupid old people who vote down budgets >:() to give us our own room, so we use a tech room that's used once or twice a day. it's a pain though, cause we have to clean up every weekday night :(. i wish we hada good sponser with a nice room for us...

my junior year in high school:
U.S History
Algebra/Trigonometry 3-4 Honors
English 5-6 Honors
Computer Literacy (cuz i needed a filler class, see below for why)
German 5-6 Honors
Earth/Space Science 3-4
okay, i wanted to have the following schedule:
German 5-6 Honors (i got that)
English 5-6 Honors (i got that)
Algebra/Trigonometry 3-4 Honors (i got that too)
Physics
Sociology/Psychology 1-2
Economics first semester and Government the second (required classes)
the reason i didnt get the schedule i wanted was because the counselor i had quit like a week before school started. so i get a call like a week before school starts from another counselor that has my file and tells me "she has you down for only taking 3 classes!" so needless to say i went in the next day (cuz i was working when she called my house) and got the first schedule. i only had 3 out of the 6 classes i needed for the day. half the classes i wanted were filled, or they werent offering them this year (physics). hopefully next year i will get into AP Cemistry and take Physics for the fun of it. for now, i have to deal with the schedule that i didnt originally want:(

Gee, can you tell I'm a poli sci major?
1. Intro to Comparitive Politics
2. 19th Century American History
3. Gen Ed. Cluster class on Cosmos/Evolution/Solar System
I believe that amounts to 15 credits for this quarter (even though I counted and its only 12 hours of class per week). And best yet, I never have to take math again if I don't want to.
Oh yeah...no classes on mondays either. I love college already (though I'll probably regret those words when I actually start and am swamped down by work.)

Well, I must say people. Most of us have some very challenging schedules. I know I have a full one myself. My senior year looks like:
1.0-physics(half year)
1.5-english 4 tech prep
2nd-cisco network academy(all year)
3.0-Senior Social Studies(half year...pointless yet required)
3.5-Precalculus adv.
4.0-Engineering tech prep.
Not to mention most of us have very busy extra curricular and personal lives.
I was wondering what other activities and clubs some of you fellow first members are in.
I am in the drama club, marching band, academic quiz team, national honor society, soon to be key club, this year prom committee, officer advisory board for class of '03, FIRST Robotics, as well as working on weekends...
Some of us are just as busy during after school as we are in. I'm interested to see what some of you reply

then somehow after school I'm juggling cross country, driver's ed, and the robotics class... fun fun
hey, here's a question for all you hs seniors and up: I'm told junior year is THE year to look and decide on colleges. Any tips for what you should do / when you should do it / how to get it done?
DaveyPotter144
08-09-2002, 09:52
Yeah, myself.. I kind of forgot about the whole.. junior year is the year to decide. Honestly I received tons of mail last year and what I did was took the time to read, reply for more info, and just check to see what's out there. I gotta tell you though you should start making a list to all the colleges that interest you. I'm wishing some of the stuff I'm doing now during my senior year would/should have been done last year. Nonetheless may someone learn from my mistakes.
And for those of you that need scholarships Fastweb.com is a great resource.

I would definately start making the list of potential colleges now and do a lot of research about them this year..like see how good they are in the field you want to study, price, location, programs, chances you'll get in, etc. Try to find anyone who went their, older friends, teachers, family, etc and see how they like it.
I also reccommend trying to visit those on the top of your list either during spring break or during the summer because environment is big, you'll be living there for four years. This will probably narrow down your list and by the end of summer you should have a pretty good idea of where you want to apply so you can request applications (and if you're really bored/diligent...you can even start thinking about thoses horrid essay questions on the application). I've just learned from the whole college applying experience its a lot less stressful when you have a plan and don't slack off.
Junior year...
American Lit
AP Calc AB
AP US history

AP Chem
Spanish 3

I guess this year I'll have to try. Wait...thats what I said last year.
