Using NIVision for Finding Contours

My team's trying to get and filter contours from camera images using the built in methods from NIVision, but we have absolutely no clue where to start because of its rather terrible documentation. Is this possible/does anyone know which features of NIVision to use? If not, is OpenCV the best option?

I'm not sure if you can actually find contours directly using NIVision. What are you trying to find using the contours?
