Tell them if they do a good job they'll receive a GOLD STAR.
Note: keep some gold stars on hand in case they take you up on the offer.

The easiest way would be to recruit people who like doing videos, etc. If your school has some kind of film/tv club, or a tv production class, try stealing members from there.

Better yet, just steal the entire club and put them under your jurisdiction. Hey, the support and recognition they'll get has to be better than what they have now.

yeah, i got some members but allot of people still think FIRST is building a robot.
at silicon valley regionals, our team could win the most unspirited award. only me and this other girl was cheering for our team. we could be counted as a veteran team with a good amount of people. but absoluetly no spirit at all.
i mean the team members all wanted us to do well......but somehow they seemed a little constrainted. some might be thinking:" i may look like an idiot if i yell my head off"....
im very confused how to get the team spirit up. im trying not to bluff either...........
or some people might think:" cheering is so stupid, its unneccessary shouting and it is what cheer leaders do"
should i intvite to cheerleaders in your school? bring a few drums?haha:p

I've said this a bunch of times but go out and recruit and look beyond the box! Not just for the chairman's award but I'm sure you could use some organized people for management and do travel arrangements and to fundraise...and sooo much more.
So go out and look for people who are known for being scarily involved/managerial and you could also get their friends, I mean that's how I got roped in!

Find 2 video's, One from the team that won the competition, and one from the team that won Chairman's.
Take a look moreso at the competition 3 years ago (with the 6' high trough's). See the champions reaction and then the chairman's awards reaction with their team, Baxter Bomb Squad, on stage playing their submission video with fireworks going off in the background at Epcot.
I think if they see that there is glory to be had when achieving the chairmans award they will more than likely want to earn it.
