Lifecam snapshot

Is there any way to send a snapshot of the field from the Microsoft lifecam? (Not a live stream, just a button which sends a picture to the driverstation). If so, would it be faster?

Instead of CameraServer startAutomaticCapture you can grab images yourself and set them manually with CameraServer SetImage. It would certainly reduce your bandwidth but I don't see our livestream from CameraServer using more than 1 megabit/s
