Just wanted to let you all know that BattleBots 2016 is filming in Los Angeles next month, April 19-24 (the week before FRC Champs). The competition is taking place at the LA Hangar Studios east of downtown.

Tickets are available here (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/battlebots-season-2-television-taping-tickets-22500136514)

Hope to see you there!

Be forewarned that if it's anything like last year, it may not be as enjoyable an experience as you might think. Treat it like you are there to be an extra in a production or something, not to watch a robotics competition. There will be a LOT of hurry up and wait, a lot of schedule creep, and not much in the way of amenities.

It will probably be smoother than last year, but I doubt anyone who went then enjoyed it very much.

Decisions.. Decisions.... Decisions.....

Also note that the closest parking is 3-4 blocks away and the area is not street parking friendly. Plan carefully and bring snacks/water.

Which MIT team?

I know Danger4, SawBlaze, Overhaul, and Dentist/Combat Robotics Club all have at least one member who did FRC in high school.

Some former 1102 mentors are on a team. I might have to go to this for sure.

Team Mutant Robots is made up of FRC mentors in San Diego from team 1266 The Devil Duckies, Team 1572 The Hammerheads and team 4583 Robosaurus.

As stated before this is a live filming of a reality show, NOT a robotics competition. There is a lot of down time between matches. It's probably not much more different than watching a pitching battle in baseball or a golf tournament if that's your thing.

Steve Tibrea? Are they bringing back Jabberwock?

Dentist.

The Battlebots website current shows the 2015 teams (season 1).

My D says that she will be in LA from April 15-25. Seems like they are filming the season over a 10 day period.

I heard that he might be involved with it. I haven't seen him to ask. I'm only sure of Chris Williamson's involvement. He mentored our team 2010-2011 when I was a student. I know that it's not Jabberwock though.

Their team's Facebook account has been announcing members of the team every so often as well as sharing some design process photos.
