Out of all these teams, there are five rookies, four teams from China, and 38 teams from the golden state.
Heading out in a few hours for tonight's load in. Looking forward to a great regional

What time are match schedules coming out?
I've heard it's coming out tomorrow morning.
37 of 42 teams were fully inspected by 8PM last night.
Of the 5 remaining I expect 3 to finish quickly this morning and the other two done before matches start.
We ran practice matches with an open schedule yesterday, teams could get back in line as often as they want. First time to the field required a programmed radio, every time after that, they had to be fully inspected. Seemed to work well with lots of practice time for the fully inspected teams.
Got a great field crew running the event with Mark McLeod as FTA, Cameron on scoring, Mark S. as field supervisor and Karen Mahoney, head ref.
The competitive level of some of the teams here look awesome! Going to be some great battles at the castle walls with the Holy Cows deadly shooter, 973's versatile monster, and 330's killer drive team.
Looking forward to the next couple of days
Watched a practice match yesterday. 5 of the 6 teams were at Los Angeles two weeks ago. I saw some high goal shooting and climbing that I DIDN'T see at LA! Should be a highly competitive regional.

There has definitely been a high level of play by some of the teams. Tower captures during practice rounds. Hanging during practice rounds.
33 of the 42 teams have already competed once.

This is a high-energy event with a lot of great people and even greater camaraderie. If you've ever thought about attending this event, stop thinking and do it. This is the week 4 place to be. Definitely looking forward to tomorrow's action!

Concur Ventura and Central Valley are similar and super fun CA regionals.... some of the best teams and everyone is great... glad we tried both although Ventura is several hours closer. Ventura just started last year. Like OC will next week.

Now that I've caught up on some sleep I thought I should finish writing this:
Thanks to all the volunteers at the event. We really enjoyed our time at Ventura, and it was a great experience for everyone on our team. Each year I've been on 1868 we've attended a different first regional, and I'm really glad to add Ventura to that list. The teams, venue, and weather were all great (it was so much warmer there...) It was also nice to experience a smaller regional where we could play in more matches, even though it meant we were always busy!
Thanks to 5839 for picking us and for 1572 for joining our alliance. It was awesome playing with you guys in quals, and I'm really happy we were able to alliance together in playoffs. 5839, congratulations on your Rookie All Star award and good luck at champs! If you need any help there (with batteries or anything else) please let me know.
Congratulations to 330, 973, and 3925 on a well deserved win. I was surprised when I was going through the team list and realized none of you had already qualified for champs, but I'm glad you now are, and good luck there.

Myself and a few of my students drove down to cheer on our friends and twin robot on 2339.
Seemed like a very well run event at a great venue with a great roster of teams! Ventura is definitely on our list for 2017 events.
Congrats to 330, 973, and 3925 on the dominating win, as well as 1868, 980, and 5839 on their awards! Can't wait to see you all at champs.
Elims Videos!
I had a student from team 3925 record all of the eliminations videos with my 4K camera while I was busy on the field.
In full 4K, Here are all of the Elims videos.

As field Supervisor I pride myself with creating a fair and even playing field for all teams. We even slit the carpet to remove wrinkles in the field halfway through the competition. We had an amazing field crew this year that helped keep everything moving smoothly... even when field design flaws got in our way. ::ouch:: Thank you everyone who worked this competition, on and off the field! :)
While my duty on the field separated me from team bias, it does make me proud to see two teams that I have worked with win this competition together! Thank you 330 and 973 for Picking 3925!
5802 and 5818 (the reincarnation of 1717) and 1160 commanded an excellent Finalists alliance.
Congratulations 1868 on a well deserved Chairman's Award, 980 on their Engineering Inspiration Award, and 5839, Blue Whale's, Rookie All Star Award! 5839 had a high level robot, and captained the 7th alliance (nearly knocking out the 2nd alliance in quarterfinals), I was very impressed by this Chinese Rookie Team. Watch out for them at Champs!
Here is a timelapse I recorded of field assembly on day zero. Started recording at ~1 PM, right after the carpet had been laid. Stopped ~8 PM. Enjoy, also in full 4K quality.
