Hi friends,
For my Honors Stats class we are supposed to design a study to run multilinear regression on. When I saw the prompt, of course I immediately thought of running a study on FIRST robotics. I would love to examine something I am passionate about, and this was the perfect opportunity to do that.
To do this project, however, I need your help! Please take the survey above -- I am willing to share my results if anyone is interested :)

Cool. Couple of thoughts:
- there is no provision for "0" off-season events (we don't currently attend any, though hoping to change that for 2016)
- for those not in the district system, you may want to amend your question about what level teams have achieved to include traditional regionals

Thanks for the feedback, it's really valuable :) I've added an "other" option for the # of offseason events.
If anyone has any research questions they want answered, please let me know as well!

how about expense of bot and/or general total funds expended per year? it may be able to help you determine the reasons behind the wins and losses of different awards.
When you say "Regional 1st pick", do you mean first round, or just the first selection of the 1 seed captain?

Completed. I think you should post your final results on this or as a new thread for all to see.
I would be interested in seeing the results of the survey, just out of my own curiosity. I would second the idea that a question about the total funds expenditure (with an option for "I don't know" since not everyone is in the loop about finances) would certainly be interesting to use to see if there are any correlations between performance and funding.

I would expect that most people outside of their team's business department wouldn't know their yearly budget.

When you say "off-season events," does this mean competitions or any activities the team does? I might've just added an outlier to your data.

First round pick. I.e. getting picked first by alliance captain #8 still counts.

Any major activity counts. For example, my team participates in something called FIRSTFare which is a day of seminars concerning FRC-related topics... that still counts. I'm just trying to gauge participation in the community year-round.

Oops I went for off season competitions, I'd have to count up how many community events (and decide which ones were too small to count as well).
We are a combination of students from 3 public schools, 1 private school and a couple of homeschoolers. So I put "outside of school" although we are pretty closely affiliated with a couple of the schools and have a workshop and many meetings at one of them.
That one was hard for me to answer. Also, our students' time commitments vary greatly. Some live at the shop and others put in the minimum required commitment. But we actually have very few of the latter this year.

Filled it out as accurately as I could :) You'll have to share the results here when you finish, I'm intrigued to see how it turned out!
