It's probably too early to tell how many there will be. I would imagine that a lot of rookie teams are still organizing and figuring out what they are going to sign up for. There may be some last minute additions and some drop offs as money turns up or doesn't.

My team (team 1037) just got our number last week. This is our first year too! We have a pretty good team. . . kinda small right now. . . but for the most part, everyone is pitching in and taking on like three jobs per person.

We are a "not-so-rookie" rookie team. Team 144, Who? split into two parts. Our mentors have been around FIRST for about ten years, our kids are all newbies though.

GO ROOKIES! Hope to meet u (1089) at nationals! We're a small team, but we're getting along...and we're crazy...especially those of us who stay up too late doing too many things. (herman...) Anyways, good luck to all the rookie teams out there and good luck to the senior teams!

Last year there were 650ish teams......This year there are "over 800 teams attending 24 regional events"....my math tells me then that there are at least 150 new teams (altho that would be affected based on the number of teams that do not come back),

Actually there are only 632 teams signed up so far this year. The highest rookie number is 1104 but 1025 is non-existant so you do the math.

Does the FIRST site have listings of the new "rookie" team for 2002-2003?

Best you could do is this site (http://www.usfirst.org/frc/map/FMPro?-db=team%20events.fp5&-lay=web&-format=team_list.htm&event%20year=2003&status=signed%20up&-sortfield=team%20id&-max=all&-find) and go to the bottom.

New team 1105 from LA

There are a lot more Indiana rookie teams than expected this year. I think five is an incredible amount in a state that is mostly rural and doesn't have many resources! Then again, Indiana has a lot of powerhouse teams, and every one of the veterans from Indiana teams have helped the rookies get off the ground. I hope every state and all rookie teams this year get as much support from veterans in their state as we did.

Do any of you know if a team #37 still exists? I'm thinking it did at one time, but I haven't found anything on them...there's a team 38 and stuff, but no 37...:(
