Which top 10 teams do you think people will have to watch out for coming into the championship? Which top 5 first year rookies look the best? Do you think any will make it to playoffs?
Do you think any will make it to playoffs?
There will be plenty of rookies in the divisional playoffs, maybe not as alliance captain but definitely 2nd and 3rd picks or even 1st pick depending how they go. There are some very solid rookies out there.

I don't know, there are some really good rookies (first one off the top of my head- 5980) that can easily be alliance 1-2-3 captain

Top25 will post their final season results sometime next week before champs. That has a community vote portion so you should see a pretty good representation of who the community feels is the best. I would suggest you go vote in that!
In addition both top25 and LookingForward provide "expert" polls. Those are usually pretty neat too, and interesting to see how they differ from the community polls.

I could totally see 118 being on a division winning (and maybe Einstein winning?) alliance. Their performance this year has kept up with the stellar one they had last year.
California looks very well represented, with 971, the aforementioned 1678, 254, 3476, and many other incredible teams looking to add to their resumes.
There's of course the Canadian cohort - 1114, 2056, 610, 1241, as well as the more recent 4678.
If you haven't heard of 5172 you will after Champs :D

I'd have to say that 5980 is probably the best rookie bot to be coming out of Michigan. Definitely a team to look out for.

Don't forget Makeshift! I had the privilege of watching them at Carver division finals last year, and their bot was spectacular; they seem to have only gotten better this year.

I fully expect 5842, the rookie team we worked with at South Florida, to fall under the radar and get picked up late to make a stellar alliance. They're built to play solid defense, and can work a ball starvation strategy if needed. If no one picks them it will be sad :/

I had the pleasure to meet team 125 and see their bot at Arizona North this year, and they have improved a lot since then. I fully expect the Nutrons to do really well this year. I'd also be on the lookout for 2122 and 1011 as well. Both Tators and Crush are strong low goal bots, and both could have a deep run on the right alliance.
These are my predictions for the top 2 robots on the winning alliance on each division. I think Hopper will be able to take it all.
Archimedes Division:
1671 - Bird Brains
1986 - Team Titanium
Carson Division:
610 - Crescent Robotics
973 - Greybots
Carver Division:
359 - Hawaiian Kids
1114 - Simbotics
Curie Division:
1983 - Skunk
3230 - PrototypeX
Galileo Division:
987 - HIGHROLLERS
3683 - Team Dave
Hopper Division:
971 - Spartan Robotics
1678 - Citrus Circuits
Newton Division:
118 - Robonauts
254 - The Cheesy Poofs
Tesla Division:
33 - Killer Bees
2056 - OP Robotics

I think the most likely candidate for winning this year has to be whoever comes out of Newton. I could see 254, 67, 1241, and 118 as the top 4, pairing up in really any way (not to mention the host of other top tier teams in the division that could eclipse them). Any one of those pairings will be very hard to stop.
THIS. I fully expect 5172 to make it to division finals at least
Just division finals? I would be mildly surprised if they didn't make Einstein Finals.

With how deep Newton is it wouldn't be shocking to me at all.

I'd say the same thing about 254, 111, and 973. Or 25, 180, and 16. Or 118, 1678, and 1671. Things go very wrong!
1678+971 is our next world champion.

I would love to see 971 get back to Einstein and win with 1678. IIRC, 1678 took them out in 2014 in division Finals.

5817, for rookie teams to watch. They could be in the top 5 rookies for sure, and I wouldn't be surprised is they won RAS at champs (they've won it at 2 regionals this season)

Newton and Hopper are facing off in quarterfinals, so they cannot be winners and finalists respectively. Curie and Carver can't both be quarterfinalists for the same reason. Tesla and Galileo can't both be semifinalists, again because they face off against each other during semifinals. You all should keep this in mind when making predictions. Unlike last year, there is a bracket and it matters.

As far as Carver division is concerned any team worth their salt is going to pick 2481. Their robot is near perfection. You can't block their shot, you can only try to keep balls away from them. If those guys could put two of themselves on the field, they'd take the whole thing.
Newton division may be stacked like flapjacks, but untouchable outer works shooters and dukes of hazard d-bots will win out over low bar lobbers every time. There are robots that are just straight up immune to courtyard defense, and they have a clear advantage over those who are not. If anyone is going to take down the newton alliance, its going to be someone like 2481.

I agree, we were fortunate enough to see them at Smoky Mountain, where there is barely any video footage, and they are definitely unstoppable by a defender. I think Carver teams will see their capabilities, and they will end up going to Einsten. Great team with great people. Much love for 2481.

I don't know enough about each division to pick a good second pick for each so only the top two robots listed here.
Archimedes: 1986-1501
Carson: 2052-2771 (potentially 1024)
Carver: 1114-359
Curie: 1983+3506
Galileo: 195-987
Hopper: 1678-971 (or 148, too hard to decide)
Newton: 254-1241 (or 118)
Tesla: 2056-33 (with the possibility of an upset from 4488-2363-2451, any 2 of 3, obviously not all 3 together)
Anyway, good luck to all the Indiana teams who went..

Also, I saw 3147 on hopper I think. Did they get through by the wait list thing.
I'll take a stab at predictions for the 2016 championship! I made these picks with the idea of maximizing the chances of one or both of the teams being right. There is definitely a lot of variability in this year's game and it seems guaranteed that some unexpectedly awesome alliances will make Einstein this year. I just tried to choose 2 teams from each division that I thought had pretty good chances of winning their divisions. So without further ado:
Newton: 67/254
Tesla: 1690/2056
Galileo: 195/987
Hopper: 148/1678
Curie: 3339/3990
Carver: 1114/359
Carson: 1024/1619
Archi: 1501/1986
I think there will be a lot of Michigan teams on Einstein, especially in the 3rd/4th bot slots. I was impressed with the Israeli teams when watching their regional so I picked 3339 and 1690 to win their divisions - hopefully they got lots of practice! Newton was hard to decide but I thought a 67-254 alliance would be awesome. They've never paired up before! On Carson, 1024 has to win their division. Last time they won all their pre-CMP events (2008), they also won their division. Also I'm a big 1619 homer.
We'll see what happens!

They can go up against the driver-station wall turn their turret towards the tower and fire laser beams too to avoid courtyard D too.

I agree, however, they are up some extremely good competition, with 330, 359, 1114, and 2481. I think these traditional powerhouse teams are the one's being predicted because of reliability and consistency over the years, as well as reputation. I think 27 stacks up well with the competition, should be exciting to watch!
A couple teams in Newton I think people are going to be underestimating are 1241 (I know this is kinda obvious) and 1519. Absolutely great robots that have proven their worth.

Over 50%! Not too shabby...
Most prognosticators got 195/987 and 1501/1986 right, with a tad fewer correctly predicting 148/1678 (usually throwing 971 in the mix instead). Most people also got 2056 right. From there it was all downhill, with Newton at the bottom. I think one person guessed 4678 right....
