I didn't see an announcement anywhere for why "Word Association" is closed... can someone explain?
I dont know either and i was one of the last posters but it should be opened again it is fun to try and figure out what people are thinking when they figure out an association

je ne sais pas (going with the french theme monsieur coffee...or should it be cafe?)
But its all the more reason for you to think of another innovative thread that will be so popular.

People should pay attention to the rules.
Especially after the thread was closed for violating a particular rule, then to be opened and have that same rule broke within 2 hours.
I bet I know which rule it was. Could it possibly the try not to make them live chats between a few people by posting a lot in a few minutes??? Sorry Brandon:(

The mention of alcohol ...
"By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, racist, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws."
Underage drinking is illegal and shouldn't be mentioned on the forums "considering FIRST is centered around High School students... who shouldn't be drinking." <-- direct quote from Brandon
Brandon: is this why?

From ChiefDelphi's Rules
You also agree not to post the same message in multiple forums, or use the forums as a real-time chat, continuing a 2-3 person conversation on for numerious posts in a short period of time.
This is my hunch on what the cause of the closing was, but if it's true, I'm not sure it really applies. If only a few people choose to participate, I don't think that constitutes a "2-3 person conversation" (could the thread even really be considered a conversation?). Hrm, I was the most active participant, in post count, and if that is the problem, I'd make it a point to limit myself in post quantity. If I'm wrong however, I'm still trying to think of the reasoning behind the thread's closing...

It just means "I don't know".
And I thought the word association was a cool idea... maybe it went too many posts

translate: I am sorry, but you are wrong. "Je ne sais rien" means that I do not know anything. "Je ne sais pas" only means that I do not know. I am trying to speak more french because I realized that I need to take french again in college. That's life.
Now just because I'm speaking french...don't opress me...I swear I'm not going to surrender. :)
edit: argh, raul beat me to it. it takes too long to type out all the french special charcaters and remember how to conjugate and stuff!

Well, I look down upon the people who caused the closing of the word association thread. However, that means that I will have to think of something new. But this weekend, I have much more important things to do to check any forum much.
Hehe, that must be annoying.

Sorry about instigating the re-closing of the thread :)

Wow... this forum has reached a new all-time low... threads about closed threads.
The worst thing is it is filling up rapidly.

if it's because we're not supposed to post a whole bunch of stupid stuff to try to rack up the post count, i laugh at the irony and hipocricy of the situation, seeing as brandon posted numerous times, himself. sorry brandon...
if it's because of some mention of alcohol...well, then i have nothing to say about that. can't really argue that one, guys.
since there's a thread on here about the violation of second amentment rights, i might as well throw something in about first ammendment rights...heh.:p

Yes, I posted. But I didn't post about 4-5 replies to that thread in one sitting. There were probably 1-2 times where I did 2 posts with one between in a short period of time, and now I regret doing it because it broke the rules. But there were many times where I went 'oh, I got a good one' and didn't post it, because I already posted in the previous 15 or so posts.

I was right in that the thread was closed on the grounds that I proposed earlier. I was not aware that a string of three posts ( person1, person2, person1 ) was in violation of the rules, or that there was a conversation in the thread, to begin with.
Because it was I that broke the rules, I'll try to justify it by saying that the rules were a tad ambiguous and that a rule like that would have been broken eventually, but again, that's only because I was the one who broke them. My posts consisted of ~1/10 of the total, and I had more than 30 posts more than the next highest. I'll try to exhibit a little more self-control, when it comes to my posting habits, from now on...
Sorry about all that...

I looked at the thread.
I went to dinner.
I came back.
There were 4 new pages.
There were like 3 people that created those 4 new pages.
So I closed it.
I never said it wouldn't re-open.
