If you run across the 2016 worlds pit map, please post a link. Nothing found at www.firstchampionship.org or on the event app.

I find it appalling that this stuff is sooooo hard to find given the technology we have.

It's not that it's hard to find, it's just that it's not yet published.

It's gonna be OK.

Appalling? Until 20 hours ago, the final list of teams and their subdivision assignments didn't exist so no pit map could exist. I'm going to suggest that we give the folks in New Hampshire at least one business day (that would be Monday) to build and distribute a pit map before declaring its absence unsettling. I think we need to be at Wednesday morning before we can declare it Appalling.

Tuesday afternoon, so teams know where they are going on Wednesday.

Are pits usually broken up by division or are they just everyone in numerical order?

Jon Stratis

They are broken up by division, with the layout identical to last year, accords Ng to the FIRST Championship app. So, take a look at the pit maps in there, last years pit maps, and you can probably figure things out. Within each division, They have traditionally been ordered by team number.

Here's last year's pit map. (http://archive.firstinspires.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FIRST_Championship/2015/FIRST_ALL.pdf)

The Championship app has a similar map, confirming that each division's pits are in the same place. I would guess we won't see exact pit locations until Wednesday.

It appears the pit map will be posted to this webpage

http://www.firstchampionship.org/first-robotics-competition
(look under quick links) (PS: It isn't available yet)

I expect a blog post to also go out for the pit map

The pit map is available in the app but there doesn't appear to be any way to print it out. If you sendit via email, you are prompted for a passphrase when you click on the link. Does any one know what the passphrase is?

Got a screenshot of it on an Ipad, but it is generic with no assignments.

The link to the pit maps appears to be working now without a passphrase.

While I understand not having each individual pit labelled with the team number, I do in fact find it appalling that USEFUL maps were not published for the Championships in a timely fashion.

Things they could have published early:

Where fields are located on the dome in conjunction with seating areas
Where general division pit areas are
Where sponsorship row is
Where and which vendors are going to be there
Where hall of fame is located
Where volunteer check-in is

It was pretty futile to put together a folder for my students ahead of time, because none of the important things were published.

Go to the root: https://guidebook.com/guide/53130/ and select maps. Odd that the direct link gives a 404.

If you look under FRC teams each team has their pit assignment (in the app). Then go to the map to find where it is.

Not a great solution but it is a start.

Also the map is so low resolution I can't actually tell which pit ours is (S32) it looks like we have a corner pit, but I'm not 100% sure. :( :(

I believe you are correct that you have a corner pit.

I hope that someday someone will invent a way to upload more pixels to the internet, I think the technology is almost there!

Nice to see they are keeping the roundabout, that was one of the things I really liked about last years layout.

Yeah, low res. But it seems we've got a corner pit as well. D21.

That's 3 for 3 corner pits!!!

It appears that at least two prior years they put Archimedes and Tesla fields on opposite sides of the convention center/arena. Why would they do that? It made for even longer walk for those two fields!

With the "roundabout" in the middle of the Dome floor, the robot path to each field was about the same distance from the entrance. It wouldn't have mattered whether Archimedes and Tesla were on the north, south, east, or west side. They got the long walk to the dome, and the short walk to the practice fields. Hopper and Newton (?) were the other way around.

This difference might have been lesser on the inside of the field, but I can assure it was quite large for the rest of the team, who had to walk around the field!
