18 - why is this? Is it more about room?
4607 is interested but we will not know until a little later on.

I set a dead line for 3244 to let me know who will be coming with us by May 25. I will then register our team.

We won't have the space this year for more pits, but next year we hope to expand to 24.
We need people to register by about June 25th.
I have a quick amendment to this, if you register after June 25th you will not be able to stay at UMD, as they need the number of rooms by then. If you register after you are responsible for finding your own place to stay. However, please be smart about it and try to get registered before then either way, it will make organization much easier.
Hotels in Duluth can get relatively expensive in summer, so if your team wants to stay at a hotel instead of camping or staying at UMD, it would be prudent to register sooner.
Camping .. do you have any suggestions? ??
Thanks

2169 has stayed at the Spirit Mountain camp grounds in the past. Nice place. And not too far from Duluth East High School.

Unfortunately we were unable to reserve the high school this year so it will be at Lincoln Park Middle School, which is closer to the Spirit Mountain campgrounds anyways :]

it turns out that there was a mix-up in communication, we would actually prefer if teams could be registered by June 15th if they want to use the UMD housing.
Just under a month left register! We still have some spaces left.

We've got about 5 teams registered so far.
We have 13 teams registered. This means we have 5 spaces left. Please be registered by June 15th if you want to use the UMD housing. Even if you won't be using the housing, try to register by then anyways.
2175, 4480, 876, 857, 3102, 3275, 3244, 3883, 3184, 1816, 93, and 2512 are registered. We have space for 5 more teams. Register as soon as possible if you want a space.

That's odd, I'll talk to our head coach and see what's going on there. We'll try and get that email to you as soon as possible.

Thanks is a relief to find life. We wish to utilize the UMD housing. I think we asked for 4 student and 4 mentor rooms
Has anyone else not received an email yet? We're working on getting them out and we want to make sure we got everyone.

Are there rules that very from the official FRC rules for this event?
Are there rules that very from the official FRC rules for this event?
We don't intend to make any major changes to the rules at this point.
We were hoping to get tower strength back down to 8, but unfortunately we can't. We have been looking at possible alternatives to the Portcullis that we could build, but we haven't yet decided if we will go that route or if we'll just leave the Cheval as a static defense.
A note about inspections: We won't be forcing teams to do inspections, it's going to be an on-your-honor system. If you've made changes since your last official event, we request that you be inspected again, but if not, you don't need to be inspected.
Didn't get confirmation yet also. We requested umd rooms as well and are ready to pay.
Thanks
Our apologies to those who haven't received emails yet. It seems that we didn't have a specific person in charge of sending them out, so that didn't get done.
Our team co-captain has now sent them out to everyone.

We got our email but no bill.
We now have 18 teams signed up! It's a huge jump from two years ago at the first event where we were struggling to get enough teams to even hold an event. Any rule updates will be posted in the near future.

Rules question. Did I see it somewhere that we can have an additional 5lbs on the bot for a 125lbs limit? or maybe that was some other event? We would like to shore up a part on our bot but the last official weigh-in we were 119.5 lbs. The upgrade would tip us over. I'm not to sure if there is many places to get the weight back down.

We have allowed an additional 5 lbs at the Gitch in the past, but this year we decided not to do so, as most other off-season events do not allow you to do this. On the other hand, we aren't going to be overly strict about ensuring that robots aren't over 120. As long as you aren't going over by more than a pound or two, you should be fine.

We where just discussing tonight that we will be in the presents of great teams. Going to learn allot.
As we were going over the teams today, it came to our attention that we only have 17 teams including ourselves. We had an error with our spreadsheet, and we accidentally had a duplicate that nobody caught. This means we have one space left open! The site should have the application up. If your team didn't get signed up but wanted to, you have another chance. Sign up as soon as you can, though. We still need to get rooming information to UMD as soon as possible.

We have finally finalized the rule changes for the Gitchi Gummi Get-Together!
We are making a change to rule G38: Driving over or getting stuck on a boulder while holding another is not a violation of G38, as long as there is no intent to move it in order to score points.
Change to 5.4.4: In the event of a tie in playoffs, the match will be replayed, not decided via 5.4.4.
We have also decided to add 15 seconds to the Teleop portion of the match. This is for a couple of reasons. The tower strength is permanently raised to 10 from Worlds, and we don’t want this competition to be terribly competitive. The 15 seconds will hopefully help teams bring the tower down despite the raised strength.
Because of there being only 18 teams, there will likely be about 2 matches between each team’s matches. An additional 15 seconds per match will give teams a little bit more time.
To help with the tower strength, we have also increased the amount of boulders that can be stored in the Castle to 8.
We have a request to make! If any teams have practice robots they could bring to compete, we would be very grateful! Yet another team has backed out. We would really like to have 18 teams here, and it’s getting late enough we don’t want to force more teams to make time in schedules. If any team has a practice robot from 2016 that they could bring to compete, that would be VERY VERY helpful. We can’t make the schedule until we have a finalized list, and teams keep backing out. Any teams willing to do this can PM me and I will send you our team captain’s email so you can get registered. If necessary, we are willing to waive the 200$ fee for the practice robot.
Note: All teams registered: Please DO NOT back out! Your team made a commitment to this event, and we can’t make the schedule until the list is finalized!
We have yet another announcement/rule addition. This wasn’t posted with the other rule changes because it doesn’t directly pertain to how the game is played. We would like each time to have 3 drive teams at this event. The Gitchi Gummi is intended to be an event where students can practice driving and work on robots, not be very competitive. These three drive teams should be composed of people of different skill levels, not just the people who drove during the year. We will be referring to them as Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that you should be trying to rank your students. The Primary drive team will be playing team's 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, and 16th matches. Secondary will be playing the team's 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, 14th, and 17th matches. Tertiary will be playing the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, 18th.
This does not necessarily include the drive coach if the drive coach is using the event to pick new drivers for the new season. The main focus is that as many people as possible get driving and human player experience.
In Playoffs, teams can choose who they want to drive.
If there are more students who wish to drive than will fit on the 3 drive teams, then it's fine if you switch students out. This event is to help students get drive time and experience at events. We want as many students as possible to get that experience.
If you don't have enough students for this many students, it's completely fine.
If anyone is willing to bring a practice robot to participate, please PM me and/or Zach101 ASAP. We need to have the matches finalized by the 17th..
3275 is bringing a small new group. But we are excited

KING TeC had quite the adventure at Gitchi Gummi. Despite the problems at every turn, we had fun. The venue was also really superb, much preferred over the high school last year.
We would like to thank 2512 for putting on a very great event. And we also thank everyone who had to put up with us through our difficulties.
We're going to have to work hard to outfit the bot for the Minne Mini, but the trip up here to Duluth, even with the thousands of problems, was definitely worth it.
Btw, really like the amount of Pokemon at Canal Park. Evolved my Growlithe

I'll post that in a moment. Meanwhile, I present "FTA Vision" for those who've wondered what an FTA does during a match. I bet you never realized that FTAs have a connection between their corneas and the FMS. I hacked into the FTA's ocular systems during match 39.

Congrats to 8009, 1816, and 3102 for winning Gitchi Gummi!
I didn't know 4009 had a practice bot, but man I'd just like to say they've been an up and coming team for the past couple of years. I won't be surprised if I see them win a few more regionals and make their name heard at champs in the future just like this year.

We absolutely loved the Gitchi Gummi Get-Together! This was our first time going to a summer competition and team 2512 really set the bar high for what an off-season competition should be! The location was outright stunning, the match times kept us on our feet, the volunteers were awesome, and the food was great!
We were very blessed to be picked as the 3rd team for the 1st Alliance(Thanks 4009 and 3883!). The playoff matches were very close and a great experience for us!
Thank you for an amazing time! We will definitely be back next year!

Same here for 3244 first offseason event. We really enjoyed the competition format and allowing us to give our very young team "Rookie season 2.0" this experience. Many of our team members had observation jobs at regionals with only one "Freshman" that had a drivers spot last year. All the kids (5) had an opportunity to participate on the floor. Some seemed to love it others not so much. That's what's great about FRC so many jobs from IT/support to Front man/ face of the team.
We where honored to join the 4th ranked alliance Teams 4656 Rock Solid Robotics out of Two Harbors, and 2175 The Fighting Calculators from Woodbury and nearly pull off the big upset vs. the #1 alliance. It took 3 tries at the tie beaker before 4009, 3883, 4480 figured out how to defeat 3 functioning robots. Everyone must admit that was a nail biting 30 minutes of competition.
We had so much fun and we will be most definitely be returning next year.

4656 Rock Solid Robotics, 2175 The Fighting Calculators, and other teams that attempted to get our vision tracking back after configureing our radio for the event. This Thread (https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1599361&postcount=21) says it all. We plugged everything in tonight and with no changes it works. Radio still configured for the FMS.

So you are convincing FIRST to get all FTAs a hololens, right?
I don't know, it probably depends on if FIRST is impressed or appalled at my field monitor app. They wouldll have to MacGyver some side shields for the HoloLenses to keep the UL folks happy though.
The graph view does give a bit of a different picture than the regular field monitor, the trip time that David was commenting on wasn't "horrible" but when you can see across 150 seconds of match time that one team that had (likely code) issues causing the trip jump to 30 ms occasionally it looks "bad" or at least noticeable. Of course 30 ms is less than a 30th of a second so the drivers aren't actually feeling the lag the way they would if it were jumping above 100 ms.
The most interesting thing I found is that the radio signal quality (the light blue line) shows when a radio starts to reboot. The signal goes away for a while, then when the radio reconnects the signal quality line comes back a good 10 seconds before the RoboRIO reconnects and starts reporting voltage.
The app is a Windows 10 Universal App, it will run on all Win-10 platforms including X-Box and IoT. After I'm happy with it I'll dump it in Xamarin to see if I can get it to run on Android.
