Let me clear up a major misunderstanding about the rules for robot-building:
ONLY TWO LISTS OF MATERIALS NEED TO BE CHECKED TO SEE WHAT IS ALLOWED ON YOUR ROBOT:
1) WHAT IS ON YOUR KIT INVENTORY, AND
2) WHAT IS ON THE ADDITIONAL HARDWARE LIST
Most items sold by Home Depot, Auto Zone or Lowe's are NOT on either of these lists and are therefore NOT allowed!!!
These stores were mentioned in the rules to illustrate the kinds of sources you could use to get the materials on the additional materials list. We did not want a team to find some exotic titanium wheels from an obscure source that nobody else had access to. We wanted the competition to test engineering skills and strategies, not who has the biggest budget or best sources. We never said you could go to Home Depot and buy anything you want. Please read your rules carefully so nobody gets an unpleasant surprise at inspection.
