Does anyone know where one could buy sheet rubber? What is sheet rubber exactly, anyway?

This is a flat piece of thin rubber usually sold in 12 X 12 pieces. I know that they carry it at most ACE hardware stores. It is commonly used as gasket material so it will be in the plumming department.
