About FIRSTwiki
FIRSTwiki is an open-content encyclopedia about the FIRST Robotics Competition, designed to provide a useful resource for all aspects of the FIRST community. Following the tenets of gracious professionalism, members contribute back to the community by recording useful information that other members can benefit from.
FIRSTwiki is a different kind of wiki, hosted on github pages instead of on a traditional wiki platform. See http://firstwiki.github.io/docs/contributing for more information. It's unclear how well this form of wiki will work, but it's worth the experiment. :)
How you can help
I spent a bunch of time today doing some reformating and importing content from the old FIRSTwiki (look at all the pages! (http://firstwiki.github.io/wiki/all-pages)) -- but there's a lot of content that still needs to be imported from the old FIRSTwiki. And while I've done a lot of automated formatting so it's easier -- there's still a lot that could be done there.
I think programmers will benefit most from this sort of repository, and also can contribute the most in terms of making it actually usable:
Creating more templates and includes and stuff (we don't have all the niceties of MediaWiki yet, because it uses github pages... but we can do a lot of it)
Adding documentation for non-programmers on how to edit things on github
Adding technical documentation that answers questions people ask all the time on ChiefDelphi
Add your team's code from this year and previous years to your team page so it shows up in the robot code directory (http://firstwiki.github.io/wiki/robot-code-directory)
I would love to see your pull requests!
