It's that time of year!

The Ruckus Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the 12th annual Rah Cha Cha Ruckus will be moving closer to Halloween! The event will be on October 29th and will remain at the Main Street Armory. The past few years have been getting better and better and some regular Ruckus attendees have really shown off their capabilities this year (including Einstein appearances and IRI invites).

Registration will open on May 18th at 9am via the team registration page on our website. Registration is first-come, first-served. The cost of registration will be $300 USD until August 5th, or $350 USD until October 14th. Payment is required to secure your spot and will be due by October 14th at the latest (or 8/5 for discounted registration).

As always, make sure to visit our webpage (http://ruckus.penfieldrobotics.com/) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/rahchacharuckus/) for further updates.

Have fun storming the castle!

Hoping to make it up again this year, but it would mean 3 events in 3 weeks for us. Our robot isn't as young as it used to be, it gets tired quicker. Oh wait that's me, the robot is fine.
Perhaps this year we can forget to bring our standard home.

Is The Blue Alliance going to provide real-time information for scouting at Ruckus this year, or should I reconsider my e-scouting plans?

Is there a standard way to do playoffs with < 24 teams? It would be a little sad if there were no quarter finals while 6 teams sat out. Maybe you could do an uneven bracket, with the first and second seed alliance earning automatic advancement to semi finals? That way 18 teams could play instead of just 12. Thoughts? (I'm not passionate about the idea, just spitballing).

I dont think Ruckus has ever had a problem with attendance. It's been around 40 teams each year,. Considering the quality of the event, I'd be shocked if that changes anytime soon.

Once September hits I suspect we'll easily hit 24 teams. There's a lot of local veterans who haven't signed up yet. I have reliable sources (one is a Ruckus committee member) who have told me that 639 and 229 intend to show up. We're more concerned about getting 30 to 36 teams.

If anyone misses things like mentor matches and pie in the eye, make sure you fill out the surveys given out at the end of the event! The only reason why these were removed was due to feedback saying teams would like more matches!

There seemed to be little or no interest in Pie in the Eye as it generated very little return financially to be considered worth our time anymore.

I feel guilty that our team can't volunteer. We're arriving on a bus Saturday morning (4am) and departing right after awards. Are there any jobs that don't need us to attend a volunteer meeting ahead of time? Safety glasses maybe?

Please don't feel guilty at all. We appreciate that your team is willing to make the trip down for the event. I think we will be ok on volunteers, but during the event if we find ourselves in a need we will be sure to ask teams for help. Thanks!

MakeShift always enjoys our trips to Ruckus - a model off-season event that is consistently well organized with teams that are exceptionally welcoming.

We would like to thank our alliance partners and friends from 3015, 1360 and 3173 for a wonderful roller-coaster ride throughout the playoffs. Our congratulations to the alliance of 5406, 639 and 291 for a great set of finals matches that could have gone either way.

HYPE had a great time at Ruckus this year! Thank you to 20 and 3951 for joining our alliance for eliminations.

And a big thank you to 5406, who lent us not one, but two 775 Pro motors for our shooter when the ones we had broke in consecutive qualification matches.

We had a few sets of new drivers in, and due to the wear on the robot combined with students who aren't completely used to the robot yet, we managed to break our robot in some very new and interesting ways! No matter how many time i experience it, I will always be struck by how willing and happy teams are to help one another in the pits and on the field- so thank you again.

Congratulations to 3015, 4039, 1360, and 3173 for winning the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus! I really hope we get to see 4039 in Rochester again sometime- even though the district walls have closed you off to us, we're always open for you!

Celt-X 5406 had a great time at Ruckus too! It was great to catch up with some of our US friends from last year's event, and from the Pittsburgh regional (hat tip to 1126 and 1559). The venue was amazing, as always. The organization and volunteers were stellar. Thank you all!

We had the good fortune to bring a whole bus full of students, half of whom were rookie members. I'm confident their first taste of competition (and scouting) will hook them for the 2017 season. The event gave our new drive teams some real match experience, and they made us proud. Our pit team got a workout too, as our robot Squirt is definitely showing its age, and systems are starting to go (apologies to our alliance mates for Finals Match 2 :)

We'd like to thank our Playoff partners Code Red, Team 639 and CIA, Team 291 for their amazing performances and camaraderie. It was an honour (and a bit confusing) to see our whole alliance wearing Celt-X green! Congratulations to Ranger Robotics, Team 3015, our Robodrome-mates MakeShift Robotics, Team 5406, and Orbit Robotics, Team 1360 for their well-earned win.

Now that Ontario is under the District model, we won't have as many opportunities to play with US teams. Hopefully we can make it down to Ruckus again next year, but you are also all welcome to come up to Hamilton for "The STEMley Cup Championship", which we co-host with MakeShift. This year's event is full, but you can book early for next year! stemleycup.wordpress.com (http://stemleycup.wordpress.com)

291 had an awesome time also!!! Thank you to all of the volunteers and organizers for making it all possible. Thank you to 5406 and 639 for choosing us to be on your alliance! It was a great finals. It was an honor to wear the green shirts!

Congrats to 3015, 4039, 1360, and 3173!

Also, any word on when match videos are going up on YouTube?

I heard that the match videos would be uploaded to YouTube quickly after the event, so I would assume a few days maximum.

This year's Ruckus was the smoothest running off season event I have worked this year (it really helps when the field doesn't break and there are no foghorns). Can't wait til next year!

Here is a link to some videos one of our mentors took of elims. They are only of 5406, 639, and 291 though. It doesn't show much of the other half of the field.

Anyone have rankings and alliance selections?

Rankings and match results (from which you can glean the selections) are now posted on the Ruckus web site (http://ruckus.penfieldrobotics.com/awards-and-results/2016-awards-and-results/).

Thanks to all the teams who came out for this year's event! If any of you have feedback (good or bad!), the planning committee would love to hear it directly by submitting the Contact form on the Ruckus web site (we do read this thread of course, but the direct contact is even more on our radar)

On behalf of Team 3044, thank you to all of the volunteers and the teams in attendance for making this such a fantastic event! Our students loved it and learned so much this weekend :)

In addition, thank you to 191 and 1511 for extending an invitation to us to join your alliance. We love playing with both of you at FLR and Ruckus every year and wished we were in working shape to participate in elims with you. Without a tread on one side and only the use of polyurethane bands as an in between match replacement, we were in very rough shape and could barely drive. There's always next year though! :)

So, I'm really not the right person to respond to this, but I guess an outside response is better than no response. IIRC the Ruckus Committee has given the raw footage from 2015 and 2016 to the 1511 media team. I don't know if it's lost in a black hole there or what the story is. I will try to ping Larry or Jeff and get a reply there.
