I went ahead and joined the Remind101, but what exactly is the info that will be communicated through this?
The main information will be when registration opens in the fall.
Are the rules IRI rules again this year? If not, what's the plan for the portcullis?
When the planning committee starts meeting in late summer, we will go over what rule updates we might want to do. My understanding is that portcullis was a FIRST decision to not ship these to any off-season event so we will consider that when we look at the rules.
Just bumping this so everyone knows, registration is open.

Any updates as to when we can expect the rules updates that CowTown will be playing?
Thanks!
Nice to see that there are currently 2 pre-rookies signed up so far!
201700090 ICE
201700270 Stealth Panther Robotics
So the major rule changes are:
8 tower strength instead of 10
IRI auto rule
IRI defenses (random during quals, selected normally during playoffs)
You can drive over boulders while carrying boulders
Top 8 can't pick each other
(Full rule changes are attached)
Also, the 2 prerookies listed above now have team numbers.

I think that 2085 would be a better hosting team given Vacaville is cowtown. :)
Good luck to those competing.
Knob Noster rookie team 6424 Stealth Panthers will be competing with the Camdenton LASER 3284 practice robot at CTTD and using the number "328" for this event. This is to save from making new bumpers. We are meeting this weekend to practice and learn how to drive and compete with the robot. It will be a great time for sure.

We are looking forward to seeing old and new friends this year at Cowtown Throwdown. I will be busy that week making the FIRST logo cookies and maybe a few other surprises. We try to make the experience a great time for those attending and wish we could have room for more, but too many makes it uncomfortable in the pit area. We have been blessed that all the students attending in the past were wonderful with helping others and we know that will be the same this year. If anyone needs help, find a staff person or a member of FRC1730 Team Driven, and we will lead you in the right direction.

Team 1619 won't be able to attend this year, but we wish the best of luck to all teams competing. If this is your first time going to this event, know that it's one of the most fun off-season competitions in existence! :D
Where will it be streamed this year? I know it was on a YouTube stream last time. Also, are there plans to push the match info to TBA this year?
Yes, the event will be streamed again this year.
We'll post the stream details here once we have them.
Thanks!

Here's a list of the teams. I've included which official events they played, followed by their draft position (captain shares same position as their 1st pick) and how far that alliance went in the playoffs. Teams who saw action in the championship elimination rounds are in bold.
Some teams have new drivers, have made significant improvements to their robot, or perhaps have completely built a new one. Looking forward to what surprises everyone has in store.

Fantastic. In 2012 we taped a piece of carpet fiber to our screen to aim the basketballs. It was meant to be a temporary fix, but it ended up sticking around for 2 regional wins before we finally switched to a digitally drawn line for champs that year.
Can't wait to see the improved shooting accuracy. Good luck this weekend.
I am really excited for CowTown! Over the past month or so an couple of teammates and I did a bit* of prescouting. I am excited to show some of that data here.
For each team, we watched match video (around 5-15 matches per team) and recoded notes, their defense capabilities and tortugas, autonomous capabilty, goal capability, endgame capability as well as their drivetrain, shooter and other notes. We also recorded statistics such as season WLT, OPR, CCWM and rank at their last regional.
Graphs of the data are available below.

Of course, we were only able to see what was shown on video in matches, so what was never recorded or has been changed since a team's last recorded event is not possible to tell.
If you have any graph that you would like to see or any questions, please ask or stop by 3928's pit on Friday or Saturday. We would be glad to help.

Hope to see you all on Friday and Saturday!
*"a bit" would not be accurate to the amount of time and energy I spent on this project. I would not reccomend it to anyone. On the plus side, I know pretty much every robot pretty well.

Wow! This fix was also meant to be temporary, but it worked well enough that we just decided to keep it. We hope it will work well in competition as things don't always transfer perfectly from practice to competition though.
Good luck to you too, although Team Titanium definitely does not need any luck.

Hey - yes, currently it will be the same stream both days. If that changes I'll post an update.
I'm going to try to get individual matches recorded but I can't promise anything just yet!
Also as an update, the stream will be up a little bit later for qualification matches but might not be until then. I'll update once it's going.

Paul, The stream is looking good here in Colorado! Could probably be zoomed in just a bit more (seeing some dead space on the right side of the field but quality and consistency is great so far.
Wish we could have made it out there this year but things didn't work out for us.
Good Luck to all the competitors!
Is anyone on the stream getting the wrapping and freezing? It's happening a lot on the TVs here.

Thanks to team 1730 and all the fantastic volunteers for holding such a great event! 5968 had a great time (even though we didn't do as well as we'd wanted), and I certainly hope we'll be able to come back next year!
We had a really great time here! A couple thanks to:
1723, 1730, and 4329B for being great alliance partners. We may have been eliminated in quarters, but we put up some of the best performance we had all year with this alliance.
1730 (again) for organizing the event and making it even better than last year. This was one of the best events we've attended all year and we hope to come back next time.
AndyMark and FIRST for letting teams take home field elements (http://imgur.com/svuAavh) to lighten their load. We'll take good care of them.
WPILib beta devs for giving us the opportunity to test the 2017 software. It all went smoothly, except for one instance where our auto somehow jammed our drivetrain when a command didn't end right. (bug report coming once we figure out the exact issue)
Every other team for tolerating when things didn't go as planned. Specifically the drivetrain match and the one where we smashed our intake.
Just an FYI, we are currently running through the quarterfinals. Now would be a great time to check out the stream to watch how this years CTTD competition turns out!

Wanted to offer our sincere thanks to Cerner, Lee’s Summit High School and Team Driven for hosting another world class offseason event. Great teams, fantastic volunteers and tasty concessions all made for a wonderful weekend. 9 qualification matches for every team!!! On behalf of Team Titanium, FRC 1986, Thank you. A great value and eye opening experience for our new team members.
We’ve been a big fan of The Broncobots (FRC 1987) for years, and thrilled to get another chance to play together. I think the last time we shared an eliminations alliance was the 2012 Ozark Mountain Brawl. That team-up also fared well if I remember correctly (https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1175549#post1175549). The 20 point autonomous, ability to hit the shot from range, and smooth driving over the defenses all had our scouts hoping you’d be available in the draft. Our combined offensive abilities allowed us to deploy our third pick in defense and still get to the capture bonus. Thank you for being great friends, and continuing to inspire us with your creative ideas, positive energy, and tremendous work ethic.
We loved teaming up with the Lutheran Roboteers, FRC 4329, in last year’s CTTD and thought that their great driving skills would shine in a defensive roll if given the chance. Well in our 2nd Quarterfinal they came through big, almost completely shutting down 3 low goal scorers while we were nursing a failed battery on the offensive end. We would not have seen victory that match without their supreme efforts. A classy group who I personally look forward to seeing every year.
We got to meet Apophis, FRC 5006, before their rookie season at the 2013 Ozark Mountain Brawl, and have been following their rise in FRC ever since. We were impressed then, and still impressed today with the poise they display on and off the field.
The fans in the stands couldn’t ask for a closer set of finals. We went to a 3rd match with penalty points ultimately deciding the winner. Much respect for 3284, 525, and 1094. Incredible machines expertly driven.
Surprised 2001 didn’t get their name called for elims. Capable of 5 low goals and smartly driven. Can’t wait to see what you build next year. You looked good this weekend.

Thanks to Team 1730 for a great job hosting the 2016 Cow Town Throwdown. Thanks also to the many volunteers who helped make the whole event run so smoothly. It was a great experience for all participants. It’s a long drive from Iowa for Team 525 to attend, but it provides an invaluable opportunity for new team members and new drive team members to get some FRC experience before our first 2017 event.
Team 525 would also like to thank Team 3284 for selecting us as partners for the playoffs. You did a great job selecting and captaining the alliance. It was a pleasure working with the whole alliance of 3284, 525, 1094 and 1108 and exciting watching those finals matches as we came close to upsetting the number 1 seeded alliance.
The whole event was outstanding. Great teams, amazing robots, excellent matches, first rate facilities and lots of fun.
The Lutheran Roboteers, Team 4329, thoroughly enjoyed the entire event again this year! This has become a much anticipated high point of our pre-season schedule.
Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors for making this such a great event and an awesome experience for our students. We especially want to thank Team Titanium, FRC 1986; The Broncobots (FRC 1987); and Apophis, FRC 5006 for welcoming our "A" team to their #1 seeded alliance and making the elims so exciting. We also want to thank 1723, 1730, and 4646 for inviting our "B" team to join their #6 seed alliance.
This was a great pump-up experience for our students, mentors, and the families who traveled with us as we get ready for "Steam Works"!
We look forward to reconnecting with all of our CTTD friends at one or more of the events we plan to attend in 2017: STL Regional, Iowa Regional, STL Champs!

Yeah, why don't you give credit to 3928 Team Neutrino. Glad you liked them :)
LASER 3284 had a great experience at the CTTD event as always. We want to thank Team Driven 1730, Cerner, and all of the event volunteers for a quality event. Congratulations to the championship alliance winners (1986, 1987, 4329, 5006).
We would also like to recognize our awesome alliance partners 525 Swartdogs, 1094 Channel Cats, and Team 1108 Panther Robotics for their GP and contributions in those exciting finals matches.
Thanks to the teams that nominated LASER 3284 for the Gracious Professionalism Award. It was greatly appreciated and humbling.
Lastly, I would like to recognize the efforts of the 2017 rookie team 6424 Stealth Panthers from Knob Noster, MO. This rookie team did an awesome job at the event and I know they will be great program for 2017 STEAMworks and for many years to come. They traveled 2 hours to our practice facility a few weeks back to learn about the game and our practice robot. Then practicing (and repairing it) repeatedly with it to prepare for CTTD.
