Coming soon to a TV near you is the latest season of battle bots.

Have to go with the local (West Chester PA area) team SubZero. One of the few "flipper bot's" in the competition.

Who is your favorite?

It's easy for it not to be spoiled. Just avoid CD and social media and any/all robotics people you know. Just think of everything you can get accomplished with all that time you'll save!

Yep, I did this!! Was all twitchy at 4PM but I got an amazing amount of work done that day. Won employee of the month and I'm guessing if I did it for an entire week would make Sr. Vice President. :rolleyes:

I always enjoy seeing Tombstone matches... there is always so much carnage :D

I think Tombstone will be outdone by Son of Whyachi in terms of carnage this season :)

Had the chance to hang out with Team Overhaul a couple of months ago, since I'm going to be living just down the street from them soon. Gotta say, I'm rooting for them.

SawBlaze, Danger 4, Dentist, and Overhaul all have students that went through FRC. Bite Force has mentors that currently do FRC.

I had the opportunity to hang with Paul Ventimiglia (did I spell that right?) a couple weeks ago at WPI. He brought Bite Force 1.0 and 2.0 as part of the display for Touch Tomorrow and the NASA Centennial Challenge. Paul did not tell, I didn't even ask, but even though 2.0 took a couple good hits, it remained in fairly good shape, throw a battery in it and drive. My guess is we have a repeat Champ. (Or at least into the finals)

Don't know if anyone else read the blog posts from Charles on the Overhaul team, posted back in May. He outlines all the work they put into running brushless DC motors on their robot. It's a very detailed and interesting read: http://www.etotheipiplusone.net/?p=3985

Maybe something we'll see in the future of FRC.

There was the guy at the CTRE booth at worlds who had a prototype of a brushless motor controller.

Unfortunately Ambush was a "lost bot" this year - all set to compete but didn't make it into the tournament. They are hoping to get selected again for Season 3.

I've got to say that being there in person to watch the taping was an interesting experience; there's a lot of sounds/smells/etc. that get lost between TV and IRL, and the robot power/energy levels are an order of magnitude higher than FRC. Highly recommend it if you get the opportunity.
