View Full Version : aerial image of your School
Hey guys, post a aerial image of your school! A fast place to get them is The MSN Terra Server (http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/default.aspx)
Central High School, Manchester NH We are that cluster of buildings near that read pin
Here's an image of my (former) High School... Appleton East High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. I'm an alumni there as well as a FIRST alumni.
Seen on the top of the school is a giant smiley face. This is a senior prank that was painted one year. The smiley is painted on "The Silo" a 3 story cylinder where the majority of the classrooms are. There are classrooms on the outside of the ring and on the inside of the ring with a hallway and lockers between them. Other than the library on the first floor, there are absolutely no windows in the silo. It's impossible to get lost in this HS, but you may find yourself walking in circles...
Terraserver puts the date of this picture at 5/1/1992. I don't believe the smiley is there anymore though.
To the left of the smiley is our Technology Education Center. At the date of the photo, this would have been the brand-new add-on. South of the smiley is our Gym.
My house is only a few blocks northwest of the picture :)

heres the infamous Kokomo High School from Helicopter view (no I did not take the picture, nor do I know who took this picture)
other aerial shots can be found here (http://www.kokomo.k12.in.us/Khssc/Bulletin/Aerial_Views/Aerial_KHS.htm).
here would be my school...
Smithtown High School (http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/addressimage.aspx?t=1&s=10&lon=-73.2396525962513&lat=40.8636460812055&alon=-73.24325453&alat=40.8636460812055&w=2&ref=A%7c100+Central+Rd%2c+Smithtown%2c+NY+11787)
It's actually three schools in one. the one with the pin is the 10-12 building, or old SHS West (smithtown used to be two high schools, now it's one, and going back to two in a few years). the building in the middle is the Freshmen Campus (used to be, and will be again, Accompsett Middle School) and the building with the circle on the right is Accompsett Elementary School. I've been to school in all three :p.
the picture is very old though, because the elementary school has had huge extensions. i know you can get a more up to date picture at mapquest, but the resoultion isn't as high.
for robotics, we lived in the middle building, at the southwest corner. this year, we're one room over :).

Here is big Oconomowoc HS, the square area on the south end is our gym, I didn't feel like photoshopping in the bottom half of the campus with the football fields, etc.... Also not seen is the north parking lot where some fool named DJ did a burnout and some donuts :D

The great campus style JR Tucker High School.
This Sachem High School. The building at the top is North - and that's grades 11 and 12. The slightly larger building at the bottom is South (Clever, no?) and that's grades 9 and 10. Between them are our athletic fields.
This picture is from 1994. There are now a whole bunch of portable trailer classrooms outside North since the building can't contain the students. They're supposed to be building a second high school.

University of Detroit Mercy (http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=1620&y=23489&z=17&w=2) ... woo, college.
and just for fun, Delphi HQ (http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=1613&y=23594&z=17&w=2) ... except now, there are 2 more buildings in those big grassy areas.

Here is Perry Meridian. The middle school is on the top right and the high school is on the bottom left. this was taken during the heart of the construction so it's a little bit different, but you get the idea

That be my elementary school.
Note all the roads coming and going to the school. The majority of them aren't paved :)
And that's it for my entire district.[

Thank you for this suggestion. Now it'll be on our history page.
Our high school was built in 1905. It's the third largest piece of land in the US for a high school - @ 54 acres. Lindbergh attended, didn't graduate from here; Smothers Brothers did graduate.
"RUHS is the only high school in the nation with student run ISP. Many schools have students working with IS and networks, but no others are responsible for running an ISP and for managing the district WAN." School District Technology Director Pat Hosken, mentor of Beach Cities Robotics Team 294
The red push pin is RUHS Auto Shop 620 Diamond ST, that doesn't really have an address - we gave it one so pizza can find us.
The Auto Shop hasn't been used in years, we recently cleaned it up, and it's being redesigned into Construction Technology and Robotics area.

I forgot my old school, this is Cudahy HS in Cudahy, WI...I went there freshman year before I moved to lovely Oconomowoc, they dont have a FIRST team but hey, Lake Michigan is right there!!!
Heh. You guys got to type in the address of your school and it was there. Terraserver didn't know where it was. I had to start at the county seat ~30 miles away and follow the road there :D

Here's a shot of Rochester High School in Rochester, Michigan. At one point, from overhead, the school looked like an "R". Now, 55 years, three renovations and 5 additions later, it doesn't look like much of anything. Also, if you look at the left side, about 2/3 of the way to the top, you'll see a lighter square. That's our Auto Shop, home of the FEDS.

Here's an old picture of Berkley High School, In Berkley Michigan. Now, that massive courtyard you see it torn up, and a huge half circle shaped rennovation is being put on. Inside the circle, you'll see where our F.I.R.S.T. class is held, which happens to be the former auto shop. Just off-screen, as indicated by the arrow, is the sepearate building where we actually build our off season robots. About 15 miles away, at the Univerity of Detroit Mercey, is where we construct our FIRST robots.

THe only thing that this picture is missing is a baseball diamond on the opposite side of the field from the other one. By next year we will have a new building behind the present one
Here you can see our school, which is currently under construction. We are having a second gym, as well as a new pool added. We will soon have a performing arts center being built also. [edit]i posted the wrong pic here. Ill add the real one now =)]

If you look in the upper left hand corner, you'll see some large buildings with circular things just to the right of them. That's the power plant our build facility is in. We're in the basement at the far north end. Our school itself is spread out all over several cities, except for an office about the size of my cubicle, so I won't even try to post a picture of it.
I grew up about a quarter inch to the right of the park at the right side of the picture. My high school (no team yet) is just a little farther right and down than that.
Thanks for posting that Cheryl, saved me the trouble of finding it:D
BTW that dark area in the lower left is the Pacific Ocean and King Harbor in Redondo Beach.
:) it is in an industrial park with a lake in the front...

Yahoo now has color images of the school. They must have been taken pretty recently because the catholic school built right night to the football field is there, but all of the houses that run along to the street are still there and a few of them have now been lifted and towed away.
The picture was also taken before the snow began to fall and this nasty cold weather rolled in.

Our shop on the lower right hand corner of the school. If you follow home plate from the baseball diamond closest to the building over to the wall, the darker brown spot is our dust collector. The lighter gray colored roof is our performing arts center.
