My team was very interested in participating in the Chattanooga Challenge after receiving flyers about it at the Smoky Mountains Regional. However, we have not received any response from the contacts listed on the flyer, the TN FIRST and GA FIRST websites do not display any info about the event, and my search on CD only turned up an almost identical thread to this one from last year. Does anyone know if Chattanooga Challenge is still happening? Was the event held last year? Any info would be greatly appreciated, because if we can't go to Chattanooga Challenge, I would really like my team to go to SCRIW, or another more local off-season.

Thanks in advance.

I have asked about CC 2016. The Georgia Off season (Grits) is 10/22 in Gainesville, GA. The registration is on the the Ga First web site.

I don't think it is. Last year I heard it got canceled at the very last second. I don't think they've been able to work out getting a field. We were hoping to attend but ultimately have decided on going to Battle for the Bluegrass.

Kingston is about 2 hours out of Battle for the Bluegrass, with optional Friday load in and lock in, and, as far as I am aware, there are slots still open. (Bonus, not on ACT weekend)

Chattanooga Challenge isn't scheduled to use an AndyMark field, so I don't have any inside baseball to share there. Hopefully they can make it stick; with the growth around Smoky Mountain Regional, it's definitely in a funny spot for off-season events with SCRIW, GRITS, THOR, and Battle for the Bluegrass all kinda-close-but-not-super-close.

Semi-selfishly: We'd be more than happy to have you for SCRIW (10/15 in Columbia, SC) though!

They also listed the wrong website on their flyers, chattanoogarobotics.com, which links to a doctor. It was actually chattanoogarobotics.org that is now completely offline.

If it happened last year, they would have used a Georgia field. If it happens this year I expect they will use a Georgia field. Shipping a field is a significant expense.

Knoxville has an AM field perimeter, too, but it's packed up now as far as I know.

Thank you guys for the offers! I'll let my team know about all of the off-season events around us; I really want them to go to an event this year.

Yes, Knoxville's field perimeter has been packaged up and put into relatively long-term storage.

I hate to bogart the thread, but...

We'd love to have you guys up for the third annual Battle for the Bluegrass! There's already a number of other TN teams who are attending. Take a look at our facebook page for more info: https://www.facebook.com/events/1596528697326712 (ignore the RSVP deadline). The registration discount is available until the day of the competition.

Yes, Knoxville's field perimeter has been packaged up and put into relatively long-term storage. In the future, if there's interest, we'd love to work more closely with our friends from the south to help put together off-season and pre-season competitions.
