For this year I would like to establish a pen pal program within the FIRST community. By pairing up teams it allows us to share and gain information, and create connections.This program is open to both FTC and FRC teams! All you have to do is fill out the form in the link below. Once your form is submitted you will shortly receive an email with who your pen pal is!

Is this team-to-team or member-to-member* pen pal program? I can see the benefits and drawbacks of both - just interested.

*Member being either student or mentor or anyone involved on the team (a single person)

I am awaiting a response to the previous question. I would say mentor to mentor, student to student. Is there going to be someone moderating this in any way? I would like to think all would be great but... I do like the idea.

It will initially be set up as team-to-team and then it's up to the paired teams if they want to keep it as team-to-team or allow it to be member-to-memeber. I personally think it would be more beneficial to be member-to-member.

Pairing will be based on the answers you provide. For example if two teams with thirty students who participate in FRC that live in the same state and selects that prefer their pen pal to be in the same state, they will most likely be paired off.

I love this idea! Maybe a website or something might make it a bit more official to get to know the process a bit better. Also, in your Google Form, make sure to incorporate Districts under the "Which Regional(s) does your team plan on attending?". Changing some of the answers from single line to paragraph format would also be helpful for the following questions:


Which Season Events Are You Attending?
Which Offseason Events Are You Attending?
