With Nationals up in the air, and tension high, I think we are in need of something petty and unimportant to talk about...

Whenever something about FIRST is on TV, I like to look for people I know. When the special on Dean aired a few night ago, there were plenty of "two second celebrities." I am on for a moment...well my black platform sandals anway. A former member of my team also flashes across the screen. So, who else got to be on 60 minutes?

At the very end, there is a clip of people recieving medals at Nationals.

That was us!! :D

If the back of Isabel's head got on there, I must have too-I didn't watch it though. I heard our team was the subject of announcement during one of the clips

Our robot was behind the rage robot but you actually saw the whole robot and not just the ball grabber and also one of our team members was on it

Heheh... yes. I think the back of my head may have been in the background of one of those shots, but it's not worth rewinding the tape to check. :p

There was plenty of SPAM on there though, including multiple shots of Kurt, Dan, and James, and the announcer saying something about us and the Beast.

Yeah I saw the rage robot on when they wrongly said we picked up volleyballs.

I swear, we need more recognizable objects next year, the heck with round things!!!

Let's try cubes or pyramids!

And as a bonus, those objects I suggested will actually stay still when you reset the field too!!

a bunch of us from 71 were on there, shane-o hugged dean and he said "you're all hot and sweaty!" LOL sorry shane, i had to do it. they also showed clips of our last match at nationals, it was a good shot next to our drivers with the robot running in the background. it was awesome. i also saw a lot of teams that i knew of on there. i thought i was a wildstang member too. then towards the end they showed a few members of our alliance and one of our drivers holding the trophy. it was good to remember all the fun we had. i hope this year's nationals will be that fun. somebody needs to do a special on the whole event. just to show how all the teams get along. its cool to talk to members of other teams.

the full story:

Shane's a great kid, he was on the 71 team with me last year. He's now attending the Indiana Academy and started team 1020 with me. The scene on 60 Minutes cuts to him hugging Dean. Dean then says, "You're all hot and sweaty!" Shane just threw up his arms in a helpless way and said, "I'm sorry, I just can't help it!"

Cheers to the sweatiest kid on FIRST Robotics!

Well he was too close. I didn't even remember that until i saw the video.
Coincidence: My grandma was watching 60 minutes just to see what the 'new thing' was and she started freaking out when she saw me. This was the first year they couldn't come to nats., too bad:(
