Who was the best 3rd alliance selection, at any event, this season?
2nd pick (3rd alliance member) or 3rd pick (4th alliance member)?

TorBots, 1197, Galileo Division, #1 seed. At least, that's the best I saw. Can't believe they fell that far.

1391 was an absolute steal at Westtown this year. 15 point scale, quick low goaling, and excellent defense.
Newton Division 4678.
In theory, Newton was the stacked division this year, and championship would have the highest concentration when building alliances. 4678 was the #8 OPR for that division and slipped to second pick of the #7 alliance. This alliance also won the deepest division and advanced to Einstein thus showing how strong the total alliance was.

120, hands down.
I was amazed by how long they went unpicked during alliance selections. They didn't have the best seeding, but our scouting data put them far ahead of most of the division.
I don't think there was a single elimination match where they didn't scale, and SF1M2 may have been a different story without them.

1405 was an incredible 3rd bot at FLR this year. Without them, we would've had a far harder time winning the event. Their defensive presence was insane.

For us, 4028. I was very surprised they weren't picked earlier on Carson. They were consistent, and were quintessential for our upset victory over the #2 alliance.

Thanks, Ben. It was an honor to be chosen by and work with an iconic MAR team. Hope we can do it again sometime!

Seriously, that was an awesome pick. As soon as I saw the first round of quarters, I knew whoever won the 1/5 semis would win the event. 1405 played some killer defense and gave the #5 alliance what they needed to stop our scoring barrage (our #1 alliance scored 194 and 184 in quarters).

For being the 23rd pick, team 6153 Blue Crew was a steal at the Rhode Island District Event. They crossed the Ramparts each match during autonomous and scored a few low goals each match before playing a defensive role before transitioning to the Sallyport Train with 228. They had a solid drive team that used their machine well and I couldn't believe they were available that late in the draft.

1405 played amazing defense but the correct answer is 4678 on Newton, they were putting up the same scores as their alliance partners 3476 and 217. With Newton being so stacked though this isn't even a fair question.

If we're being technical, we weren't even the 3rd robot at worlds, we were the 4th :)
Thank you guys for the kind words about our FLR performance though! Even months after the season ended, all the praise still amazes me.

4028 was an incredible 3rd pick, its unfortunate their robot wasn't working for most of the quals, they had a great shooter when everything was working correctly, and such a simple hang and upper-decker. We were hoping they would have fallen further, but after this match (http://www.thebluealliance.com/match/2016cars_qm89) there wasn't much hope of that.

I don't know about you guys but even from the 4th spot at champs and IRI, all-star 5254 aka "HYPE" aka "Haven't You Paid Enoughattentiontokevinleonard" was probably the best 3rd robot.

Shoutout to our alliance partners, team 379 on Curie. By some miracle we managed to pick two teams that were better than us. In fact, our alliance partners (team 3339 and team 379) were the top two teams on our picklist. We were ecstatic to hear that we somehow got both of them.
2168 at NE DMCP - 23rd overall pick, rounded out the 195/125 alliance to win the event.
