I'm involved with a rookie team this year, which means we don't have much of anything... I wanted to start digging into Labview early with the students, but I wasn't sure if we could even get access to a copy until kickoff? Does anyone know of a way, or are we stuck waiting till January to start diving in?
there are two methods.
1) you can buy a student version http://store.digilentinc.com/labview-home-bundle/\
2) If you are working with a team that uses labview they can help you out. Last year i contacted FIRST and Labview about this issue and they allowed me to share my code with the new team

Ah, thanks! We do have contacts with a couple other teams in the area, I'll have to ask around and see what we can find. Thanks!

You can also download LabVIEW 2015 (http://www.ni.com/download/labview-for-frc-16.0/5774/en/) and the FRC update (http://www.ni.com/download/first-robotics-software-2016/5773/en/) (last year's software) today and get started, even if you don't have a key today it should give you at least a 30 day trial. The documentation site (https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-46527) is fairly comprehensive, and I am sure their support team may also be able to help.

Hi Dave, I'm with National Instruments. Let me know if you need any help getting what you need to install LabVIEW, and to get it up and running.

Thanks Doug! It looks like we can get the 6 month student version at the least, which should tie us over for now, but if we have any issues I will let you know. Thanks!

Does this work with the FRC update? I'd hate for someone to spend $50 to find out it has limited applicability for FRC.

The student edition will work to learn basic LabVIEW programming. It will not work for FRC or with the FRC update.
