Team 1676, the Pascack Pi-oneers, needs your help to implement FIRST in every school district statewide! In the State of New Jersey, there are school districts who are unable to provide valuable STEAM programs such as FIRST. The Pi-oneers are working toward making funding available, and more advocates and mentors are needed for these teams.

To accomplish this, Team 1676 is hosting the First Annual New Jersey Conference for Mentor-Based STEAM Programs next Saturday, October 22nd 2016, from 9 AM to 3 PM. This conference will be held at Everest Reinsurance, 477 Martinsville Rd., Liberty Corner, NJ 07938. If your team would like to attend, please register on this site by next Tuesday, October 18th 2016: http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07ed4fkv9kb4987a3c&llr=bjvytlxab&showPage=true.

The conference will showcase the impact of FIRST on participants and how Mentor Based STEAM Programs affect students. We will explain the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), define your role in advocacy, and stress the importance of mentoring new teams created through this program. Using the information from the conference, you will be able to schedule meetings with your local government representatives and gain their support.

Speakers tentatively include Senator Cory Booker, FIRST President Don Bossi, and Assemblyman Robert Auth.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the event. You either email Team 1676 at advocacy@team1676.com or call mentor Jack Teadore 201-694-3540.

We are looking forward to working with you. Together, we can find a way for more students to experience the excitement of FIRST!

Help us change the world, one child at a time.

So, how'd it go?

And are their the meeting materials on line? We have a robot in every "school district", but the new goal is to have a robot in every school. So I'd love to see the materials that people came up with.

Thanks!
