Hello,

We are a international team based in Ecuador,
I have searched everywhere in the National Instrument website regarding the 2017 NI FRC GRANT Application, for this upcoming season.
Does anybosy in the FIRST - FRC community know where i can find it?

I know they are offering a grant since last year i received an email confirming they will, however, when i emailed them back about it, i got no response  .

Thank you for taking your team and reading this message.

-ROBOTA - 5814 :yikes:

P.S,if anyone else knows about other grant for international teams, our Ecuadorian team will appreciate it.

It looks like as an FRC applicant you need to program in LabVIEW.

There are a few others but for some like the PTC Rookie Grant the deadline has run out already.

I'm somewhat curious how or if they expect FTC teams to use LabView, considering they aren't using the NXT anymore...

That's a fair question. I will check into it.

Ok heard back from the grant team. The LabVIEW requirement is mutually exclusive with FTC for 2016-2017 grants, so FTC teams are unfortunately not eligible. We are working on updating the text.

That you very much for that link to that application. If you please know of other grants for international teams, that have not expired, we will really appreciate it a lot.

Thank you,

Is there a page also that details the grant, besides the application page? I couldn't find it. Much appreciated.

The grant is for funding. I can have the grant team update the page if there is additional information teams would like to know.

I know that on the google form it says that grants will be awarded based on a team's "financial need." Does anyone know a range of what amounts might be offered? Our team does not currently know labview very well and is trying to decide if learning it would be worth it to apply for this grant.

Has anyone heard from NI?

I searched CD and NI site and forum, and did not find anything.

We got notified today. Sadly we didn't get the grant but that's ok. We love NI anyway.

We received our grant notification on Wednesday, November 30th at 8:38 PM central time.

We appreciate the financial assistance. We also love being an NI team and representing what this language can do to help teams at every level of play. Having a roboAmbassador we can call for extra assistance has been a nice bonus too.

As always our students and mentors will be available at the tournaments we attend to help assist others with LabVIEW and control systems trouble shooting.

Thank you National Instruments for selecting us for the honor of wearing the NI logo as we compete this year.

Ditto that Aaron. National Instruments has been absolutely invaluable for our team's development. I've never been able to say enough about the way they support FRC and the amount of individual help they are willing to provide if you get in a jam. It's awesome. Over the years I've been asked why we keep using LabVIEW, and my response has always been the same. It's a different method of problem solving and gets the kids thinking in a totally different way. They'll get Java and C++ in school, this is another tool in their work belt.

Our team got the notification as well about receiving the grant.
As a Labview team since its inception offering during the 2009 season, we are glad to continually receive their support also.

Thanks for the responses, almost as soon as I posted that, I received an email "thin envelope" that we didn't make the cut.

Still love the exposure to their hardware and software, that NI support to this program offers to these students.

30 years as a controls engineer in this area, and FIRST is the only time I have used Labview hardware and software on a project.
