Too funny.
After a sharpening, does the room smell of burning wood?
While that is quite a conversation starter, I might suggest you save space and avoid the chance of disintegration due to floor contact, by buying a bunch of mechanical pencils.

A picture says a thousand words, but a video might tell us if it works or not.
Also, this. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLQUy6g40SQ)
But it looks like a fun project!
Are you sick of the pencil sharpeners that bog down? Try this.. I will work on getting some video. Works great though.
Finally, a pencil sharpener whose motor doesn't separate from the gearbox and/or gearbox doesn't separate from the sharpening blade! Or at least one that's (easily)repairable if it does separate.

I think another CIM could be added to that gearbox...

Yes, but...this one is environmentally friendly! The nitro engine sharpener is the Bugatti Veyron of pencil sharpeners; inefficient, not clean running, limited utility, but fast and powerful. The CIM powered sharpener is the Tesla of pencil sharpeners; a bit heavier, but zero emissions, quieter, more useful, and still amazingly powerful. :D Take your pick...
Hmmm... I bet we could make this smaller with a VersaPlanatary and MiniCIM :D.

Obviously a 775pro or 2 are needed..

But the issue here, is that when the pencil sharpener gets jammed, your just gonna destroy the mechanism inside the sharpener. You would be better off not using a gearbox or even a faster motor like a 775pro and a flywheel.

I'd personally go oldschool and run a couple of old Fischer price motors in a double doozy type transmission.
