The TerrorBytes, FRC team 4561, will be holding a new MiniFRC competition for Stronghold in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

If you’ve never heard of MiniFRC before, it’s essentially a quarter-scale FRC competition where small Arduino powered robots compete in a tiny version of Stronghold. Here's a video of the competition we held in June (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02FbnNCekic).

Anyone that can build a robot and get to the competition can compete! We recommend teams of 1-5 people, but larger is allowed.

Just a few of the improvements that have been made:

Improved game field and elements
Better Bluetooth management
More comprehensive instructions for building and programming a basic robot
Better livestream

For registration, rule changes, build tutorials, code to start you off, and a running Q&A, go to
The MiniFRC Page (http://terrorbytes.org/minifrc/)

Feel free to post any questions you have in this thread, too!

TL;DR:

What: A quarter-scale version of Stronghold
When: Saturday, December 3rd, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Where: Research Triangle High School in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Research+Triangle+High+School/@35.8950408,-78.8765761,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89acefbe8a56001d:0xd0754 ed69e6f8094!8m2!3d35.8950408!4d-78.8743874) (3106 NC Highway 54, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709)

We hope you'll join us!

This looks like a blast! I will check to see if any Charlotte teams want to participate.

How many teams did you have in June and how many are registered?

How many teams did you have in June and how many are registered?

We had 15 teams participate in June, and 6 teams are registered so far.

Thanks for showing interest! We'd love some YETIs and others in Charlotte to come if they can!

This looks awesome! Is there still a teleop mode, or are they strictly autonomous?

I believe that yes, they will have a teleop mode, with a bluetooth board for the arduino.

Both! The matches start with 15 seconds of autonomous and then transition into 135 seconds of teleop. The starter code provided doesn't support an autonomous mode on its own. Editing the preexisting (or making their own) code for autonomous has been left as a challenge to the competitors.

UPDATE: People may have been unable to register or ask questions on the Q&A previously, please try again now if you couldn't before. Our sincerest apologies.
