Hey y'all!

For those of you in the New York City area: Some students from Stuyvesant High School, home to FRC 694, StuyPulse, and FTC 310 and 479, Fission and Fusion, will be holding a hackathon, StuyHacks, on December 3rd. I'm one of the head organizers for StuyHacks, as well as a member of StuyPulse, and I thought that some of y'all would be interested in attending- personally, I would love to see FIRSTers attend.

For those of you not in the know: Hackathons are basically collaborative coding competitions. Students form teams of 2-4 students and spend the duration of the event working on a project, or hack, such as a website or mobile app. Hacks can even use hardware, such as Raspberry Pi's or Myo Armbands. No experience is required- workshops and mentors will be provided.

StuyHacks is for high school students, though we are willing to accept middle school students. Sign up to attend here (http://stuyhacks.com/register). Note that you need to create a MyMLH account in order to register. If you're interesting in mentoring, sign up here (http://stuyhacks.com/mentor_registration).

Feel free to ask questions! You can contact us at hello@stuyhacks.com.

I'm about 20 miles north of NYC. Would I be able to participate, or is this restricted to the boroughs?

You're welcome to participate! As long as you are able to get to the event, you can attend- note that we don't provide travel reimbursement, so you would have to provide your own method of transportation.
