View Full Version : Eclipse Mars vs Neon
Will the FRC 2017 be supporting (native maybe?) Eclipse Neon?
I'm still a bit ignorant wrt Eclipse, and have already had trouble with Mars/MacOS vs Mars/dos7 and Mars/dos7 vs Mars/dos10.
Your patience is appreciated.

Yes, Eclipse Neon will be supported for the 2017 season. I'm not sure what you mean by "native maybe?". The FRC Eclipse plugins are released for Windows, Mac, and Linux. They should work fine on either Windows 7 or Windows 10.

Assuming the beta goes well. It wasn't available in the initial beta release for Neon. Since the idea was to test them in the beta phase 2 period, I think a more accurate statement is that FIRST intends to support Neon. I think they will. I just don't think they committed to it.
We are running basic programs on Neon with last years bots and everything seems to work well.
we are using windows 7 pro using Java
Eclipse Neon is compatible with the beta version of the 2017 software, so I can imagine it would work for next year.

As Peter Johnson said, we are supporting Neon. The plugins were released late because it took us a while to fix the installation process with Neon.

Thank you.
Glad to hear Neon is supported. We have had an interesting Fall, with the Mentors running Mars on their MacOS and dos7 machines, and the student's machines "upgraded" to dos10 and Neon. Stuff moved around a bunch.
Just another dose of "The Real World" for the youngsters :)
