I'm trying to find out if any teams have full or partial sponsorship or some type of working relationship with a US Air Force Base. I'm trying to work a relationship with the base near us, but we don't know what the possibilities are. We really appreciate any help you can give.

Our team is near Wright-Patterson AFB (I am an employee). We get the NDEP grant (as do many other teams that have Federal Defense employees). It's not a huge amount, but it helps. It's not enough to fully sponsor a team.

Team 2512 is sponsored by the Air National Guard.

As is 3946. (And OBTW, NDEP became DoDSTEM; they're the same thing). IIRC, we're getting about half of our first regional registration from them - well worth doing. I understand that the amount is at least partially dependent on the number of DoD mentors you have.

Please explain the process, I'm retired USAF and we have active duty mentors.

I'm a scientist or engineer at a DoD laboratory. How can I get involved?
DoD is always searching for volunteers and mentors for our STEM programs. Contact info [at] DoDSTEM [dot] us for lab-specific information in your area.
How can I get involved if I am not near a Department of Defense laboratory?
You may not live or work near at DoD laboratory or facility, but that won’t prevent you from inspiring the next generation of DoD talent! If you would like to get involved please send an e-mail to info [at] DoDSTEM [dot] us. Include your contact information and any information you feel would be relevant to your situation. We will contact you and provide additional information regarding specific DoD STEM initiatives in your immediate area, suggest ways you can get involved with DoD STEM remotely, or even help establish new programs in your backyard.
Be aware that the grants for 2016 season went out a long time ago. DoDSTEM is usually far ahead of most other organizations in their grant timelines.
One of the best mentors 2876 has had worked at a nearby USAF base. While he helped everyone, he was especially great with coaching our drive teams and helping us refine our design process.
