At 8:30 Central Time Dean Kamen will be on TechTv's Big Thinkers program. Link (http://www.techtv.com/bigthinkers/features/story/0,23008,3405440,00.html)

It seems like its just going to be about him and his inventions but still looks like a cool thing to watch considering the way how that show picks at the brains of smart people.

I know its kind of a short notice considering it will be on 30 mins after submit this thread but I posted as soon as I could after noticing it.

Happy Viewing!!!

Hmmmm.... 1.5kW "Scooter" Stirling Power Module... A brief drawing/schematic shown on the show.

I think that's what it said. It was brief... I remembered what I could. I know I definately saw "Scooter" and "Stirling".

What will that mean? It looks a bit big to fit in a Segway... maybe for the wheelchair?

Overall, I think this piece was equally as informative as the 60 minutes interview. Very nicely assembled.

Got to his FTP site with no problem, just using my browser, however my WMP couldn't handle the file.

For some reason my browser won't go to it, but I can get through using an ftp client. It's a slow connectioin, so I am still in the process of downloading it.

For those that saw the show, how far along is the Stirling engine? Is it 'the theory works, now we need to find out the details' or is it close to production?

Thanks,
Stephen, who is waiting to see a Stirling-engine powered Segway :)

They don't mention anything about it, except for that brief drawing/schematic whatever it is.

So who has the file, and if you have the file can you host it on a FTP. I would run the server all day but we are currently in the process of remodeling/ getting a additon. And the workers already WENT ON MY COMPUTER WITHOUT ASKING ONE TIME!

So now I have to shut it down and put a password one it.....

yes brandon, that link was directed at how people reply to their post just a few minutes later... there's an edit function, use it. and when you do edit, you can write that it has been edited in little brackets or such.

Stirling. S - t - i - r - l - i - n - g. With a capital S. For those with a small vocabulary, capital = big.

A guy created it. His last name was Stirling.

I'm just wondering why it's so hard to get this file from you?

nex@absolutegeek:~$ ping 24.62.218.193
PING 24.62.218.193 (24.62.218.193): 56 data bytes

--- 24.62.218.193 ping statistics ---
46 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

Maybe email me and i could get it from you and host it on my ftp && apache servers.

To whoever gets it - I have a permanently-up FTP server running at 24.186.144.31, port 21, user: FTPuser pw: easy (as in EASY to remember, har har har!). I'm willing to host it for everyone, I just need someone to upload it there first. So someone set it up to upload, and i'll host it for everyone else (even http for those of you who are having problems with ftp).

If you have trouble connecting to my FTP, it's probably because of 'psav mode' or 'passive mode' (name depends on the ftp client). Long story short - Linksys makes sheizer routers for hosting server behind. If you have problems connecting, try explicately turning psav on or explicately psav off in your ftp client (I forgot which setting makes it work, but play with it).

Ummm...

Has anyone considered that this might be a hoax -- being that no one has been able to download it?

Dean has been on Tech Live all week. I just saw the segment on the Stirling and they said that his goal is to make one small enough to power a segway and that he wants to convert his steam engine at his house into a Stirling.

Tonight they talk with him about FIRST.

I downloaded it the night he put it up, it just didn't finish until close to midnight.

When I get home from school I'll see about uploading it on SuperDanMan's ftp server.

Ok, I am currently uploading the file to SuperDanman's ftp server. It's going to take a while for it to finish, but after that you should be able to download it.

Just in case you don't want to scroll back up, here's his server info again:
